We surveyed 84 current and past surrogates across Australia, asking them to share their personal motivations and experiences.

This week is Transgender Awareness Week, and we want to pause and stand with trans and gender-diverse people, especially young people in Queensland who are experiencing uncertainty and fear following the recent restrictions on gender-affirming care in the public health system. 🏳️‍⚧️

💚 A recent Queensland Health directive has paused access to puberty blockers and gender-affirming hormones for new patients under 18.

💚 This isn’t a small administrative change. It has real and immediate consequences for young people who are already navigating identity, safety, and wellbeing in a world that isn’t always kind to them.

💚 Decades of research, echoed by clinicians, communities, and lived-experience advocates consistently shows that access to gender-affirming care reduces distress and can be life-saving.

We’re excited to share that Ellie is now officially registered as a Clinical Psychologist!
🪷

This reflects years of study, dedication, care, and a genuine passion for helping people. We’re incredibly proud of her achievement and the care she brings to every client she works with. 💚

With this change, Ellie’s fees are now $270 per appointment, with a Medicare rebate of $145.25, bringing the out-of-pocket cost to $124.75.

Ellie is currently taking new clients, she offers a warm, empathic, and non-judgmental space where people feel heard and genuinely supported. Ellie works with children, adolescents, and adults, and has particular interest and experience in:

💚 Grief and loss, including perinatal loss and pregnancy-termination support
💚 Perinatal mental health, including men’s wellbeing and women’s health
💚 Trauma, anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, and OCD
💚 Early attachment and parent–child relationship development
💚 Supporting people through adjustment and life transitions
