💬 Secondary Supports Matter: It’s Not Just About Therapy
For many men, “getting support” can feel big or formal — but support isn’t only about booking a therapy session.
There are many forms of secondary supports that play a powerful role in everyday mental wellbeing:
👥 Mates & peers — a quick check-in, a chat after work, or a message saying “How’s things?”
👨👩👦 Family connections — partners, kids, siblings, parents, or anyone you trust.
⚽ Hobbies & routines — gym, sport, fishing, driving, music, gaming, tinkering, walking, DIY.
🐾 Pets — steady companionship that helps regulate stress and calm the nervous system.
These everyday supports don’t replace professional help — but they sit alongside it, helping men stay connected, grounded, and more able to navigate stress.
This Men’s Mental Health Month, we’re encouraging men to notice the supports already around them — and to make space for the ones that help them feel steady.
If you’re finding things a little heavy or would like to learn more about how we can support you, please feel free to contact us at The Mood & Mind Centre.
We’re here to help you navigate things at your pace.
