Are you a supported independent living (SIL) provider? Or are you an NDIS participant receiving these supports?

Did you know that from 1 July this year, SIL Providers will need to be registered to deliver these supports in the NDIS?

Mandatory registration will help to improve the quality and safety of SIL supports, and lift outcomes for people who rely on these services.

To find out what this change means for you and the steps you may need to take, check out our website and Frequently Asked Questions: https://bit.ly/mandatory-registration

NDIS participant Lee just wants to get to class and chat with his friends along the way.

Instead of respecting Lee’s wishes, his support worker loudly interrupts the conversation, telling him what to do in front of everyone.

This interaction embarrasses Lee, making him feel powerless.

Moments like this can quickly weaken a person’s confidence and independence while they’re receiving support. To prevent interactions that limit participants’ choice and control, the NDIS Code of Conduct sets clear expectations on respecting individual rights.

▶ Watch our short video to see how small moments made in everyday support can make a big difference: bit.ly/NDISCodeIndividualRights

💬 After watching, consider Lee’s experience and take a moment to reflect: As a support worker or provider, how do the decisions you make every day affect the people you support?

Emergencies can happen anytime – and NDIS participants are disproportionately at risk without careful planning from providers.

The emergency management provider alert helps providers:

✅ Plan and account for participants’ individual needs in emergencies
✅ Train and prepare staff for confident and effective responses
✅ Keep critical supports and services running, even during disruptions

It also includes plan templates, checklists for various emergency scenarios, and guidance on including participants in planning.
