Build Your Heart Health with Exercise Physiology

Cardio doesn’t have to be random or uncomfortable. Exercise physiology focuses on graded, structured cardio programs that help you build aerobic capacity safely and progressively, regardless of your fitness level or goals.

An Accredited Exercise Physiologist can design a plan that:
🔷Matches your current ability and heart health status
🔷Increases cardio fitness without overload or pain
🔷Includes regular monitoring and progression
🔷Supports long-term movement, energy and wellbeing

Whether you’re getting back into exercise after injury, managing chronic conditions or simply want to improve your heart health with confidence, professional guidance makes all the difference.

Book an Exercise Physiology session today and start strengthening your heart the right way.

Physiotherapy plays a role in heart health at every stage of life.

From prevention and education through to hospital recovery and rehabilitation, physiotherapists are involved across the entire cardiac care journey.

After a cardiac event or heart surgery, early mobilisation and guided breathing exercises help reduce complications and support recovery. Ongoing, structured exercise programs improve cardiovascular fitness, strength and joint health while reducing the risk of future heart problems.

During National Heart Research Month, it is a timely reminder that prevention matters. Identifying risk factors early, customising exercise plans and monitoring progress are key steps in protecting long-term heart health.

Small, consistent changes can have a meaningful impact over time.

Today our team had the opportunity to learn from Matt King from La Trobe University in a professional development session focused on hip pathologies and best clinical practice.

The course was both informative and practical, offering a valuable refresher on the different presentations and underlying causes of hip pain. We discussed how various hip conditions can influence the way clients present, and how to better recognise the signs that guide our assessment and treatment decisions.

Our clinicians now feel even more confident in treating patients with hip-related concerns, including understanding when to consider differential diagnoses and when it may be appropriate to refer for specialist opinion or imaging.

These learnings will directly inform the care we provide, helping us deliver evidence-informed, patient-centred treatment across all hip-related presentations.

A big thank you to Matt for sharing his expertise and to our team for continuing to prioritise ongoing learning.

Move Well During Recovery with Physiotherapy

Getting back to activity after injury or surgery doesn’t mean you need to push through discomfort or “just power through.” Good movement is gradual, guided and tailored to your body’s needs. That’s where physiotherapy can help.

Physiotherapists can support joint-friendly movement that:
🔷Improves your cardiovascular endurance without aggravating symptoms
🔷Supports recovery by building strength and movement confidence
🔷Maintains fitness while protecting healing tissues
🔷Helps you progress safely at each stage of recovery

Whether you’re returning from injury, healing after surgery, or managing persistent tension, we’ll work with you to choose movement options such as controlled walking, gentle treadmill work or low-impact activities that are appropriate and effective for you.

Your heart and your body both benefit when recovery is guided by evidence-informed care and personalised planning.

Book a session and let us help you move with confidence during your recovery journey.

🏂❄️ The Winter Olympics are almost here! 🥌⛷️

Elite athletes spend years refining their aerobic capacity, strength, balance and recovery through gradual training and expert guidance. What they do at the highest level can teach us something about how we approach our own movement goals.

Just like Olympians build endurance step by step, everyday movers improve with steady training, smart progression and support that keeps the body working well long term. Physiotherapists help both athletes and everyday clients to:
🔷Improve movement patterns
🔷Build strength safely
🔷Prevent overload and injury
🔷Progress with confidence

Whether you are training for fun, managing pain or aiming for your own personal goals, starting at your current capacity and progressing with guidance leads to lasting results.

Talk to your physiotherapist today about a movement plan that works for you.

Stay Active This Summer with Hydrotherapy!

Hydrotherapy offers a supportive and refreshing way to stay active when it is warm outside. Moving in water helps raise your heart rate and keep your cardiovascular system engaged while reducing stress on your joints.

Because water supports your body weight, hydrotherapy suits people with joint pain or arthritis, those returning from injury, and anyone who wants gentle summer cardio. It also helps improve circulation, flexibility and balance.

Whether you are walking in the pool, using resistance equipment or following guided water exercises, hydrotherapy makes it easier to stay active, protect your joints and support your heart health throughout the season.

Ask us about hydrotherapy sessions at your next visit and enjoy low impact movement this summer.

Keeping Netballers on the Court 🏐

It was great spending the evening with Sporty Netball Club, talking all things injury prevention, warm-ups, and safe training.

Led by our physios Shay McLeod and Madison Handley, the session focused on practical, evidence-based strategies to help players and coaches reduce injury risk and stay consistent throughout the season. We covered why structured warm-ups matter, how non-contact injuries can often be reduced, and how programs like the Netball Australia KNEE Program support safer jumping, landing, and change of direction.

Our goal is simple, support players with the right preparation, smarter training habits, and early management of niggles so they can keep doing what they love, week after week.

A big thank you to the Sporty Netball Club players and coaches for getting involved and asking great questions. We love working alongside local clubs to build strong, confident, and resilient athletes.

Supporting local sport is something we’re passionate about. If your club is looking for physio-led injury prevention support, reach out to our team.
