Fairfield City Council is currently developing a new Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) — a framework that guides how Council will continue to improve access, inclusion and participation for people with disability. It’s important that this plan reflects the real, lived experiences of people with disability, as well as carers, families, service providers and the broader community across Fairfield’s diverse population.

A fortnight ago, Anowah proudly hosted a workshop, bringing together community members, NDIS participants, families, carers and providers from across the Fairfield LGA to share their insights and have their say on the 2026–2030 plan.

It’s not too late to be involved!

Your voice can help shape meaningful, practical actions towards a more inclusive Fairfield.

Serving Up Skills with a Side of Fun! 🍴

The kitchen at the Anowah Hub has been turned into a place for learning, independence, and a little culinary magic! From pork lasagne with pumpkin sheets to mango pudding, our participants are building life skills one dish at a time. 😋

Cooking in line with a Mealtime Management Plan combines fun, structure, and safety — helping individuals with disabilities, neurodivergence, or specific dysphagia needs to improve motor skills, cognitive function, and sensory engagement.

Every chop, stir, and taste is a step toward confidence, independence, and real-life skills. 🥄✨

💙 World Autism Awareness Day 💙

Today, we recognise World Autism Awareness Day—a day to celebrate the unique strengths, perspectives and experiences of people on the autism spectrum.

This day is important to us, as we believe in creating spaces where everyone feels understood, supported and valued for who they are. Because true inclusion means embracing differences, listening, and ensuring every person feels a genuine sense of belonging.

It’s not just about awareness, it’s about acceptance, connection, and building a community where everyone can thrive.

Today and every day, we stand alongside the autism community 💙

Anowah is officially a proud member of the ACON Welcome Here Project, because everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and included for exactly who they are.

This initiative is all about creating visibly inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ people, sending a clear message that at Anowah, you are always welcome here.

We’re committed to fostering a culture where diversity is celebrated, individuality is embraced, and everyone feels a true sense of belonging.

Because inclusion isn’t just something we say, it’s something we live, every day. 🌈

Calling Local Volunteers & Community Supporters 💙 🧡

Anowah is looking for friendly locals who’d love to lend a hand and make a real difference in the lives of the people we support.

We’re currently seeking volunteers to help with:
- Gardening
- Light maintenance
- Extra support during community outings

Whether you’ve got a green thumb, enjoy fixing things, or simply love connecting with others—we’d love to hear from you.

If volunteering isn’t possible, donations are also greatly appreciated. Every contribution goes directly towards maintaining and refreshing our homes, helping ensure our clients feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home.

No matter how big or small, your support helps us continue creating meaningful moments every day.

On the 14th of March, the Anowah team had the pleasure of attending the Autism Expo in Edensor Park, and what a fantastic (and busy) day it was!

It was wonderful connecting with so many members of the community, sharing conversations, and being part of such an inclusive and supportive event.

We also had the opportunity to snap a photo with Dai Le—Member for Fowler, Councillor for Fairfield/Cabravale Ward at Fairfield City Council, and Deputy Mayor, who came along to support the day.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello 👋

We’re already looking forward to attending again next year!

Rain, smiles and a whole lot of fun 💦

Last Thursday’s participant pool party at Billabong Parklands, Campbelltown sure was one to remember! The weather didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm, and luckily, the rain held off just in time for a relaxed and welcoming day.

There was plenty of swimming, laughs and genuine connection, with everyone enjoying the chance to unwind, connect and make new friends.

Moments like these are what it’s all about here at Anowah 💙

Keep an eye out for the next Pool Party… we can’t wait to do it all again!
