🔥 Bunnings Sausage Sizzle for a Cause! 🌭

This Saturday, 15 November, join us at Bunnings Hoxton Park from 7 am to 4 pm and grab a classic Aussie sausage while supporting Anowah Community Living.

Every bite helps us continue providing opportunities and support for people with disability — something we’ve been proud to do since 1967 — with all funds raised going towards improving our sensory spaces to directly benefit our clients. 💙

Today, we pause together to remember the courage and sacrifice of those who served.

Their strength reminds us that unity, compassion, and care for one another are the foundations of peace.
At Anowah, we honour their legacy by continuing to build a community where everyone belongs.

🌺Lest we forget. 🌺

you

Meet Peter 💙

Peter has been focusing on building his communication skills with the support of a comprehensive BSP, helping him express his thoughts and feelings verbally so he feels heard.

This month Peter has:

🗓️ Planned community outings with support staff and enjoyed weather-friendly activities
🚗 Continued travelling halfway to visit his brother Chris every fortnight — keeping strong family connections
📘 Benefited from BSP training provided to staff, ensuring he’s supported effectively when he finds it difficult to regulate his thoughts and feelings

These steps are helping Peter strengthen his independence, connections, and confidence every day.

💛 This week, until 19 October 2025, we celebrate National Carers Week — and the millions of reasons to care.

At Anowah, we see every day the extraordinary difference carers make in the lives of our clients. Carers are not just supporters — they are advocates, encouragers, and the steady presence that helps people with disability live rewarding and valued lives.
We honour:
🌟 The love and patience that goes into every day of care
🌟 The sacrifices made, often without recognition
🌟 The resilience to keep going through challenges and change

This week is a chance to say thank you — for every moment you’ve given, every challenge you’ve faced, and every win you’ve celebrated alongside those you support. You are the heartbeat of inclusive communities, and we are so grateful.
📢 Share your reason to care and help us raise awareness of the invaluable role carers play in Australia.

Meet Charlie | PROPERTY MAINTENANCE EXTRAORDINAIRE!

For Charlie, caring for Anowah’s gardens and grounds is more than a job — it’s a passion.
He loves being around clients and creating spaces where they can relax, connect, and enjoy the outdoors.

“My role is about keeping the property tidy, taking care of Anowah’s beautiful natural surroundings, and making the environment enjoyable for everyone.”
Some moments stay with you forever. For Charlie, one of the proudest was being welcomed back by clients with open arms after five years away.

What many people don’t realise is just how varied his role is — from gardening and repairs to the many behind-the-scenes tasks that keep everything running smoothly.

If he had to describe Anowah in one word, it would be Tranquility — a safe, peaceful environment where clients have the space to thrive.

Here’s to Charlie, whose care for the land is part of what makes Anowah such a unique place to be.

💚 Today we celebrate World Mental Health Day — a reminder that every mind matters, and every person deserves the right to feel safe, supported, and valued.

This year’s theme, “Mental health is a universal human right,” speaks directly to our purpose at Anowah. We know that good mental health isn’t just about what happens inside — it’s about the people, places, and opportunities that surround you.

At Anowah, we create spaces where mental wellbeing can grow:
🌿 Calm environments like our sensory gardens for moments of peace.
🎶 Creative outlets such as Music Therapy to spark joy and connection.
🤝 Genuine relationships built on respect, inclusion, and trust.
🏡 Safe homes and community programs that give a sense of belonging.

Today, we’re not just recognising the importance of mental health, we’re recommitting to building an environment where every client can flourish, dream, and live a rewarding and valued life. 💛

Let’s keep creating moments that matter.

Meet Bev | Administration Manager

For more than 40 years, Bev has been part of Anowah’s heartbeat. She’s supported many clients across our history — from the original Anowah School to residential and community homes — and today she’s the friendly face that greets clients, families and visitors on arrival.

“I’ve known, and had input into, the lives of most of the clients who’ve come through Anowah’s doors. Every person leaves an indelible memory. My life keeps being enriched by our clients, who inspire us to do better.” - Bev.

Bev’s role stretches across administration, fleet and property management, and submission writing. It’s detailed, constant, and always centred on what matters most: our valued clients. The chats in the office, the catch-ups about life, the daily encouragement — that’s where the difference is felt.

One word for Anowah? Family. A safe, warm, caring place where clients are respected and supported to live their way.

Here’s to Bev’s 40+ years of dedication, and to the everyday moments that make Anowah, Anowah.

R U OK? 💛

Anowah proudly supports R U OK? Day, reminding everyone about the power of staying connected and genuinely checking in with those around us.
One simple question—Are you OK?—can change a day, a life, or a perspective.
Let's make it a habit, today and every day.

Check in, listen, and show you care. Together, we build a stronger, kinder community.

🍳✨ Cooking made colourful, simple, and accessible!
Anowah’s Cooking Program is now using the Cook by Colour approach — a fun, visual way to follow recipes that works beautifully for people with varying support needs and abilities.

Here’s how it works:
🎨 Every ingredient is matched with a colour and shape
🥄 Each colour matches a measuring cup or spoon
👀 No need for complex fractions or long instructions — just follow the colours!

It’s more than cooking… It’s about confidence, independence, and the joy of making something delicious from start to finish.

At Anowah, we’re always looking for innovative ways to make learning and life skills more accessible for our clients.

This is just one more way we’re making the kitchen a place where everyone can shine. 💛

🌿 Nature has a way of healing that no building ever could.

At Anowah, our outdoor spaces are more than just beautiful backdrops — they’re a vital part of how we support wellbeing. Designed with intention, these spaces invite people to slow down, breathe deeply, and feel safe.
For many, the garden becomes a place to let go of stress, reduce anxiety, and reconnect with the world around them.

Every plant cared for, every walk under the trees, every moment of fresh air helps restore calm, build confidence, and encourage movement.

This is green therapy — and it’s an essential part of how we nurture both body and mind. Because support isn’t just about programs, it’s about creating environments where people can thrive.
