In the last few weeks, we’ve seen a resurgence of the “Frankincense and cancer” link being shared.

This is a reminder that Frankincense essential oil does not contain proven “cancer-fighting” properties. The compounds most often discussed in cancer-related research are boswellic acids (including AKBA), which do not distil into the essential oil during steam distillation. They remain in the resin and in standardised Boswellia extracts.

It’s also important to note that the Frankincense essential oil in our range is Boswellia carterii. Much of the published research referenced relates to Boswellia serrata extracts.

Please make sure you research carefully and use evidence-based information before offering advice to anyone, particularly around serious health conditions.
