AI is increasingly being used to develop behaviour support plans – but it can’t replace human judgement or oversight.

NDIS providers are responsible for ensuring that your plan:

☑️ is accurate
☑️ reflects your needs
☑️ upholds your rights
☑️ keeps your personal information private
☑️ was developed with your input

If a provider doesn’t do this, they may be breaking the law, including breaching their obligations under the NDIS Act.

NDIS participant Lee just wants to get to class and chat with his friends along the way.

Instead of respecting Lee’s wishes, his support worker loudly interrupts the conversation, telling him what to do in front of everyone.

This interaction embarrasses Lee, making him feel powerless.

Moments like this can quickly weaken a person’s confidence and independence while they’re receiving support. To prevent interactions that limit participants’ choice and control, the NDIS Code of Conduct sets clear expectations on respecting individual rights.

We’re identifying opportunities to make Community Visitor Schemes for people with disability more consistent across Australia.

Community visitors check in on people living in shared disability accommodation and support settings, helping them to speak up if their rights aren’t being respected.

Using feedback from the disability community, we have developed a draft national vision and principles for these schemes.

We want to know if you think this is clear and reflects what matters most.
