I find most of you are off galavanting around on this pretend public holiday. 😆 And as it turns out I’m having to elevate my leg and can’t dance anyway!😭
I don’t want to get all Reverend Shaw Moore about it, you’re welcome to dance at home or anywhere else! Plenty of old playlists on this page if you need some dance inspo.

Hey! We dance in the dark at NLNL Hurstbridge TONIGHT 7.30-8.30pm, BUT I wanted to let you all know that Hurstbridge will be dancing on Saturday too!
Whenever I'm in a hurry and need to add some fun to a playlist, I almost always pop in an 80's track! As it turns out I've only got a couple in tonights playlist (because it's crammed so full of amazing songs spanning many eras), but that's OK because this Saturday we can all get our 80's fix at Allwood House instead!
Forty years ago, in 1985, Allwood House began its life as a neighbourhood house and to celebrate there are a number of events taking place, and I know you'll be most interested in the 80's themed garden dance party, complete with DJ spinning the tunes. I'm putting together a costume that would have made my little 80's, Young Talent Time loving heart very happy!
I'll be there dancing, so if you want to come alone, just join me on the dance floor!
While on the 80's theme... one of my favourite CD's was Eurythmics 'Be Yourself Tonight.' I listened to it on repeat, choreographed complicated dance routines in my lounge room, knew all the lyrics. I feel that album in every fiber of my being! Soooo, when I was told that an attendee at NLNL Hurstbridge is actually a friend of theirs... I was star struck! And I'm now looking forward to the day when Annie or Dave come along to a session, I'll keep you posted... 😆
I'd happily play Eurythmics every week, and perhaps because I'm aware of that I don't play them enough! I can tell you that an Annie Lennox track has been requested though and is playing tonight!
Want to know what else is playing... come along and find out!

I’m a bit overwhelmed with racing around and ALL the things today… thus the lack of posts reminding you! 😆 But I know a dance will be the best thing for me.
And for you too!
Chuck on whatever, grab a water bottle… see you in an hour.
Go.
Get ready!

I thought I should introduce myself. (Lie! One of our regulars thought I should introduce myself... thank you to Kristin from Honey Images Photography for forcing this impromptu photo shoot on me!)
My name is Bec and I started up NLNL Hurstbridge in 2019. It was my answer to dealing with life events which had left me feeling a bit old and depressed. I attended Warrandyte NLNL (Mechanics Hall, Wednesdays 7-8pm) and loved it! But I knew that I needed one closer to home to ensure that I attended every week… for the rest of my life!
NLNL gave me back my sparkle, energy and a pretty big dose of excellent mental health. I would love for you to come along and experience the same thing.
Everyone is welcome and no bookings are required. If you are concerned that you have additional needs that need to be catered for, please send me a facebook message and we can work out how to make NLNL work for you.
Children are welcome at NLNL but it is advisable that you attend alone first to determine if it is suitable for your children. Please read the pinned post which outlines rules and guidelines for children attending.
NLNL is a non-pretentious, daggy, healthy, crazy fun activity. At Hurstbridge NLNL we are a friendly, welcoming group who cut loose on the dance floor every week. Most of us come on our own… when the lights go out we all dance alone anyway.
During the week you might spot me shazamming music in the shopping aisles, flicking through radio stations or pulled over in emergency stopping lanes adding songs to spotify lists. I love my job as a song collector, it is a joy to work on new playlists every week for us all to enjoy. I welcome your requests too.
I think I have answered all your questions in the pinned FAQ post, but if you have any other questions please PM me via facebook or email me at nlnlhurstbridge@gmail.com.
Here is a little run down on what NLNL is:
- a place for people to come and dance freely in a friendly, non-threatening, drug and alcohol free atmosphere.
- an event that occurs in a dimly lit room: with the lights low people can truly dance without worrying about what they look like.
- a time to dance independently in the company of others, in order for people to truly lose themselves in the music it is important to keep talking to a minimum.
- not about technique and being a ‘good’ dancer, it’s about the experience of dancing with no one watching and the joy that this brings.
- a place to exercise at your own pace while having fun.
- promotes a healthy mind and a healthy body.
- about making dance accessible for everyone.
It is a place to shake out the stresses of the week, let go of your inhibitions and completely be yourself.
