Music has a powerful impact on the brain, emotions, and connection — supporting regulation, learning, and overall wellbeing.
At Little Achievers OT, we use the evidence-based Therapeutic Listening Protocol, developed by Sheila Frick, to support children’s functional development.
Our therapists are trained in Quickshifts®, a specialised sound-based intervention grounded in a sensory integrative framework. While auditory in nature, Quickshifts® is designed to support the underlying foundations of function across home, school, and community environments.

Quickshifts® may assist with:
• Sensory modulation
• Self-regulation
• Anxiety
• Gross and fine motor coordination
• Attention and focus
• Social interaction and communication
• Executive functioning
• Bilateral integration
Please note: This protocol must be administered by a trained therapist.

Play looks different for every child. 🌟
At Little Achievers OT, we use the DIR/Floortime Approach, a relationship-based, developmental technique that supports social, emotional, and cognitive growth—particularly effective for children with ASD or developmental delays.

This approach helps to:
Encourage meaningful interactions with caregivers, siblings, and peers
Follow the child’s lead while expanding their play skills
Boost engagement and connection with their world
Build on each child’s unique strengths to foster back-and-forth interactions
Our therapists have successfully used DIR/Floortime for over 10 years, tailoring play to each child’s individual needs.

📄 Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA) 📄

A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) provides a comprehensive picture of an individual’s current functional abilities, support needs, and capacity to participate in everyday activities.
We offer NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments for children and young people aged 0–25 years to support:
✔️ NDIS access requests
✔️ Plan reviews
✔️ Change of circumstances
✔️ Ongoing therapy and funding recommendations

Our FCAs are individualised, evidence-based, and goal-focused. Assessments may include:
✨ Standardised and non-standardised assessment tools
✨ Observation of functional skills across daily activities
✨ Input from parents, caregivers, and where appropriate, school or preschool
✨ Review of relevant reports and NDIS goals

Assessment tools are selected based on the reason for referral, functional presentation, and the individual’s ability to engage in formal assessment tasks.
📑 Comprehensive reports are provided, clearly outlining functional impact, strengths, support needs, and NDIS-aligned recommendations to inform funding and planning decisions.
📩 Get in touch to discuss referrals or to book a Functional Capacity Assessment.

At Little Achievers Occupational Therapy, handwriting is one of our most common referral areas. When we break handwriting down into its core components, we often find many foundational skills influencing a child’s ability to write. These challenges can make it difficult for children to feel confident and motivated for handwriting tasks.

One of the programs we use at Little Achievers is “Handwriting Without Tears” — a fun, engaging, and structured approach designed to maximise handwriting success. The program provides clear, systematic instruction using child-friendly strategies that simplify the learning process and keep students engaged, from uppercase letters through to cursive writing.

If your child is experiencing difficulties with handwriting and you would like further information, please contact our reception team at reception@littleachievers.com.au or call 8021 3630.

🧠Paediatric & Young Adult Occupational Therapy Assessment🧠

When a child or young person is referred to occupational therapy, an assessment is an important first step. It establishes a clear baseline of current skills and supports the development of individualised, goal-directed intervention aligned with NDIS goals.
We provide occupational therapy assessments for individuals aged 0–25 years, to support NDIS access, plan reviews, and ongoing therapy recommendations.

Our assessments are evidence-based, individualised, and client-centred, and may include:
✨ Standardised assessments
✨ Non-standardised assessments
✨ Informal observations
✨ Collaboration and discussion with parents, caregivers, and where appropriate, school or preschool

Assessment tools are selected based on the reason for referral, the individual’s functional presentation, and their ability to engage in standardised assessment tasks. This ensures recommendations are meaningful, practical, and reflective of everyday participation across home, school, and community settings.
