Thanks The Chinese Fraternity Association of QLD for inviting me to hold this health talk.

I always enjoy delivering health messages to the community. This time I spoke about cholesterol. There were around 50-60 elderly attended and very engaged with me and the topic. They asked a lot of good questions and asked for a copy of my slides after the talk. 🫶🏻

I am so thrilled to receive positive feedback from clients, they really motivate me to work hard and keep going.💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

I worked with client R for nearly two years. We went though up and downs together. Now, she is much more confident with her own strength and independence to look after herself. She sees eating, food and body in a positive lens. 🥹🥹🥹

I am so excited to announce that I am officially a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician! 🎉

I have put in fair bit of effort to study and did multiple one on one supervisions to get this credential. But, it is just the start! There are many many more to learn and grow in developing this specialty.

Time files! We have entered the last month of the year and Christmas is coming soon! 🎄🎅🏽

How many Christmas parties do you have in the coming weeks? 🎉🎄🎅🏽

How do we eat healthy during festive season? 🤔🤔🤔
⬇️Here are a few tips:

1️⃣Build a healthy plate 🍽️
- include vegetables, meat, grains and dessert.
- a balanced diet

2️⃣Don’t skip meals!! 🚫⏭️🍽️
- eat your breakfast, lunch and dinner
- it is not healthy and not necessary to save a “quota” to eat more at the party.
- you don’t have to “earn” to eat more at the party. Neutralise it as a normal meal.

3️⃣Bring healthy food to share 🥘
- Show your cooking skills 👩🏻‍🍳🧑🏻‍🍳👨‍🍳
- homemade goodies, such as low sugar brownies, homemade salads, homemade roasted dishes
- less fried food, processed food and pastries.

4️⃣Choose low sugar drinks 🍵
- for example: sugar free beverages, lemon tea with no sugar, plain tea, soda water with fruit.

5️⃣Choose light alcoholic beverages 🍺
- lite beer
- no more than 4 standard drinks per occasion

6️⃣Enjoy the food and drinks 😋
- practice mindful eating
- eat slowly, enjoy every bite

7️⃣Be the life of the party 🎉 🕺🏿💃🏻
- enjoy socialising with friends and family
- create a healthy environment
🚫talk about body weight/ body shape.
🚫compliments about “being thin”
🚫comments about what people eat

8️⃣Carry on with active living ⚽️🏀🏸🥾
- stay active
- continue your exercise routine
- invite family and friends to do exercise together, such as going for a bush walking / sport activities

What do you think about “health”?
對你來說,什麼是健康呢?🤔

Some people say health is 70% eating “healthy” or “clean” and 30% exercising. 🥪⛹️
有人說健康是七成吃得健康,三成是勤做運動。

Is it just about eating and exercising?
是不是只關於飲食和運動呢?

Probably not when we think about it more deeply. However, we are quite tend to focus on what we eat and how often do we exercise.. sometimes we forget about other aspects.
當我們思考多一點時,健康應該不只是關於飲食和運動,但我們經常都集中在這兩方面,有時忽略了其他部分。🧐

Eating and exercise is very self- driven, which is easily to associate it with self-discipline.
飲食和運動主要是自己主動去做的,很多時都會牽涉到我們是否能自律。

When we can’t make it, we may feel defeated… upset… disappointed about ourselves. 😔
當我們做不到健康時,我們可能會感到氣餒,失落和對自己失望。

Actually, health is not just about eating and exercising. There are many factors.
其實健康不只是飲食和運動,有很多方面都影響我們整體健康的。

🔸Nutrition 營養
🔸Physical health 生理健康
🔸Mental health 心理健康
🔸Relationships with food and body 與食物和身體的關係
🔸Sleep and rest 睡眠和休息
🔸Environment 環境
🔸Social life 社交
🔸Exercise 運動
And more such as genetics, age and culture. 和更多的元素例如基因影響,年齡,社會文化等。

Be fair and kind to yourself. 🧡
對自己公平點和善待自己。🙂

✅Eat regularly 定時進食
✅Listen to your body 聽身體的需要
✅Take a break when you need to 適當時休息
✅Have fun 😎
✅Create a comfortable environment for yourself (e.g tidy up your bedroom, buy your favourite diffuser) 製造一個舒適的環境,例如整理睡房,買自己很喜歡的香薰。
✅Joyful movements 做自己喜歡的運動
✅Hangout with your good friends and family 和朋友家人相聚

It was fun to lead an activity about dietary fibre and health yesterday. Thank you Ollie for inviting. So thankful to those who turned up at the event under the rainy weather. ☔️

很感激昨日下雨天仍然出席心健行活動的朋友,參與我帶領的有關膳食纖維和健康的遊戲活動,希望讓參與者從問答遊戲對膳食纖維有更深的認識。好開心大家都很投入,認真的答問題~ 😊👍🏻💯 多謝Ollie的邀請。

It was nice to meet the participants and to share the nutritional messages with them. I also get to meet a Child-centred Play Therapist Helen Liang in this event to learn about parenting skills.

Happy Dietitians Day!! 🎉🎉🎉

Time flies~ This is my third year working as a Dietitian.
I am so blessed to work as a private practice Dietitian and an aged care Dietitian in Brisbane and to work with amazing GPs, admin staff, Dietitians, health professionals and clients.

The client's successes motivate me to improve and keep going. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Nutrition is not a simple subject, it includes many aspects including physiological factors, psychological factors, communication skills, food knowledge, cooking skills, social factors and more.

It is challenging but also very interesting. I am passionate to work with clients to unpack their concerns about health and navigate them to the right track to improve their health physically and mentally.

Hope to help more clients in the coming years. 😊😊

好同意三太呢句「你要夠愛惜自己才可以減到肥,你才肯花時間去聆聽身體的狀態。」

✅ 聆聽自己身體嘅狀態同需要真係好重要,
唔係個個減肥方法都適合自己,好似三太咁講,
每日花5分鐘了解下今日嘅身心狀況如何,
知道身體嘅反應係點樣從而作出適當嘅應對。

呢種做法係一種”self-care”,愛惜自己。每個人嘅需要都唔同,每日都會有啲變化,唔需要同人地比較。

有時候可能想食多啲,有時候食少啲,有時想出街食,有時想食屋企煮下食清啲啲,有時候休息多啲,有時候想出去運動下等等。咩食物食少少就夠知道身體唔太接受,咩食物食左個人好有精神體力又唔會敏感,食多啲都冇問題。

例如,我自己係消化唔到一啲好高蛋白質嘅海鮮,龍蝦尾🦞,潮洲魚蛋🍢… 食左就會胃氣脹,每次都係食少少就夠。唔需要去test啲咩敏感,自己調整就可以,除非係出現好明顯嘅過敏反應啦。

✅ 反思自己將健康嘅重要性放到第幾位
我有見過唔少客人因為工作,家庭,照顧者嘅角色無時間照顧自己身體,將健康放到次要嘅位置,當身體出現問題嘅時候睇營養師,希望我可以俾到一條「捷徑」佢地行去改善身體問題,但最後好多都冇實行,冇改善。

「人無事先做到世界第一」

都係好老土果句,無健康嘅身體再有幾多財富同成就都享受唔到。

每日花少少時間,了解自己嘅需要,將健康放返喺高位,預留”self care”嘅時間俾自己,有需要就尋求專業人士意見,幫助你更有效改善身體同心靈嘅健康。😊

任何事情走到太極端時就會出現反效果,追求健康都不例外,甚至有一個學名去稱呼呢種症狀,orthorexia nervosa 健康食品癡迷症。 相信好多人都未聽過,癡迷好似好誇張😅

現今千千萬萬樣健康產品,資訊喺網上流傳,為左自己同家人健康都會不知不覺俾自己好大壓力去做到「健康」,真係有可能不知不覺過左龍…

可以從呢個自我測試了解一下自己嘅情況,停一停諗一諗,回想自己追求健康嘅初衷,適可而止。情緒健康都係健康一部分,都要好好照顧啊!
