Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that preserving muscle mass and increasing bone density has been THE main topic of women’s wellness this past year.

Lucky we had from pay us a visit at the retreat to teach us the fundamentals of heavy resistance training. He also led us through sprint interval training (also highly recommended for perimenopausal/menopausal women) which, by all accounts - while satisfying after the fact - is not for the faint of heart.

Coach Liam has eyes in the back of his head. He sees every.little.detail so no one has any business moving like crap when being coached by him.

Sounds a lot like our classes at MV and I think that’s why we love him so much!

Also, the video footage and photos by (Liam’s wife) are 🔥, am I right?. Danielle did a photoshoot earlier this year at the studio for MV challenge winners, and just..wow. It takes some serious talent with the lens to capture not just beauty, but joy. 🧡

Thanks Coach Liam and Danielle for being a part of the Pause Retreat 2025! I know Sunday is your only day off during the week, so your willingness to give that up for the Pause Retreat was so incredibly generous. Thank you both. 🥰

If I had to describe Rich, he’s that mate that’s always on the other side of a DM who’s always there for you if you need him.

Rich has contributed so much to MV over the years with his annual breath workshops at the studio and at our wellness retreats. There are some of us who haven’t missed a single one of his sessions, and yet, we keep learning and feeling new things each time. As he evolves in his own body, we evolve in ours.. Rich is so gracious with sharing his knowledge. How lucky are we to be his beneficiaries.

Thank you for coming down to the Pause Retreat, Rich! Can’t wait for what’s to come from you in 2026.

nancymomoff introduced me via email to superstar Perimenopause/Menopause Dietitian Lizalet about a year ago, and suggested that she be a presenter for last week’s Pause Retreat. These two are two peas in a pod and make a great team. Lucky they practice in the same office space!

I have to admit that the first time I met Lizalet in person (after following her on Insta for many months, I feel like I’ve always known her!) was in line at the local Woolies. I’m pretty sure I was holding Tim Tams and was probably trying to hide them from her. 😂

Oops!

At the retreat, Lizalet opened our eyes to how we should be eating and nourishing ourselves in this stage of life. All of her practical tips to achieve this were so valuable!

Thank you for being a part of the Pause Retreat 2025 and imparting your knowledge- we left fully empowered after your session. We’re all working hard to get those 30 different plants per week! 🌱 💪🏽!

One week ago today was the start of the 2025 Movement Vitality Pause Retreat - our first wellness retreat in two years.

I took a break from annual retreating, mostly because organising a retreat isn’t easy. It feels a little like planning a wedding. There are so many details that it’s almost overwhelming - particularly when the whole event is over a year in the making.

I’ve always felt strongly about education in any form. That’s obvious from the type of studio Movement Vitality is. We don’t just show or do things, we teach. Our students come away from class having learned something that they take into their normal lives off of the mat - and it doesn’t even have to be about yoga poses. This is unique and very, very powerful. I credit our incredible teachers and equally, our community’s receptiveness and thirst for learning.

This concept spilled over into the retreat. While I wanted this retreat to be about rest and recovery - as all wellness retreats should be - I mostly wanted it to be about learning - about ourselves and our bodies.

It’s no secret that the hottest health topic of this past year for 35+ year old women has centred around perimenopause and menopause. Even Oprah talks about it!

So, retreat partnering with Nancy - a Menopause Specialist GP and founder of Harmonia Women’s Health - and who has been a member of the MV community for several years - was a no brainer. I’ve been lucky to get to know Nancy first as a member of MV, but then as a friend, and then as my doctor. To say that I wholeheartedly trust her knowledge and expertise is an understatement - and I do not say this about many people.

Thank you, Nancy, for empowering us with valuable information, practical guidance, and for creating a safe space where women’s health could be discussed with openness and respect. Your sessions at the retreat helped to demystify a topic that is often overlooked in the medical community, and you armed us with more knowledge and the reassurance that we’re not going nuts!! In fact, we now know that the best is yet to come..
