🌙😴 Better Sleep for the Whole Family – Sleep Hygiene Tips for Kids and Adults! 😴🌙

Good sleep is essential for everyone — especially kids, who need rest to grow, learn, and thrive. But we know bedtime can sometimes be a challenge, with kids struggling to settle or stay asleep.

Here are some gentle strategies to support healthier sleep habits for kids:
🛏️ Keep a consistent bedtime routine with calming activities like a warm bath or storytime
📵 Limit screen time at least an hour before bed to help their brains wind down
🌙 Create a cozy, quiet, and dark bedroom environment
🧸 Use comfort items like a favourite teddy or blanket to help them feel safe
⏰ Try a gentle wind-down timer or nightlight to ease anxiety about bedtime

Avoid sugary snacks and drinks close to bedtime — they can make settling harder!

For adults, the basics still apply: consistent sleep times, reducing screens, and relaxing pre-bed routines.

Healthy sleep habits help everyone wake up feeling refreshed and ready for a great day! 🌞

⚡️ Keep Your Electric Equipment Safe This Wet Season! 🌧️

The wet season brings unique challenges for our clients relying on electrical disability equipment like electric wheelchairs, lifts, scooters, adjustable beds, and specialized chairs. Water and electronics don't mix, but with a few simple precautions, you can keep your essential gear working smoothly and safely!

Here's how to protect your equipment:

* 1. Stay Dry Indoors: Avoid exposing your electric wheelchair or scooter to heavy rain. If you must go out, use waterproof covers designed for your equipment. Always wipe down any dampness immediately upon returning inside.

* 2. Check for Damage: After any exposure to moisture, carefully inspect all cables, connections, and control panels for signs of water ingress or corrosion. If you notice anything unusual, contact your equipment provider.

* 3. Power Outage Preparedness:
* Charge, Charge, Charge! Keep all batteries for your electric wheelchair, scooter, and portable lifts fully charged, especially when heavy rain or storms are forecast.
* Backup Power: Consider a portable power bank or generator for critical equipment like adjustable beds or lifts, if safe and appropriate for your home.
* "Life Support" Register: If you rely on electrical equipment for essential daily function (like an electric bed or lift that helps with transfers), register with your electricity provider as a "Life Support" household for priority power restoration.

* 4. Safe Storage: When not in use, store your equipment in a dry, elevated spot away from potential leaks or flooding.

Your independence and safety are paramount! Taking these steps will help ensure your vital electric equipment remains reliable throughout the wet season.

Importantly, if your equipment does get wet, please contact your support provider to arrange proper inspection, repair and or replacement.

If you have any concerns or need assistance, please reach out to your care provider or equipment supplier.
