10 VOWS FOR PEACE:
Shared by Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara at the closing ceremony of the Walk for Peace USA. 10 simple vows that serve as a living prayer for our world.

With hope:

May every nation live in safety, stability and dignity, free from fear, chaos and unnecessary suffering.

May every person be heard, respected and protected regardless of their race, their background, their faith and the language that they speak.

May fear be replaced with understanding and may misunderstanding never again become a reason for violence.

May hatred be transformed into compassion, so pain is met with care instead of blame.

May peace exist not only in words and speeches but in laws, policies, communities and daily life.

May true strength be measured not by control, force or weapons, but by how we protect one another, especially our children and the vulnerable.

May progress always walk together with morality and may growth never be built on human suffering.

May dialogue be chosen over confrontation and listening over judgement, in families, societies and nations.

May people find Peace within their own hearts so that the world no longer needs violence to survive.

May the path to Peace require no enemies, only human beings returning to morality, to responsibility and to one another.

Last but not least - write down this statement every day:

TODAY IS GOING TO BE MY PEACEFUL DAY!
(say it out loud three times - imagine it rippling out into the universe and being showered back upon us)

May we each carry these vows quietly, courageously and daily💙🙏

Our first meditations for the year weren’t about setting intentions, goal setting or making plans for things or places.

Instead, we sensed this year as a space we are about to walk into and the quality that we would like to walk with us - how we would like to meet our life when things are uncertain, or when we’re tired or even when life is kind.

Rather than asking what will I do this year or what do I want this year, we explored this question: At the end of this year, what would I like to remember about how I lived?

If you were looking back at the end of 2026, what would you like to remember about how you lived? 💙

It was so wonderful to see all the beautiful Humans back at meditation this week. Lots of conversations and catching up, plenty of laughter and just enjoying each other's company. I am so grateful for every one of you.

Here's a few pics that Lins took of me on Tuesday morning. Thankyou Lins 💙

I like to spend time reading a book over the holidays, so I trawled through my bookcase looking for something. I decided on a book that my Mum had in her bookcase that I had read when I was young.

"Dusty" was written by an Australian author, Frank Dalby Davison, and it's about the life of a dingo/kelpie cross dog in the Aussie outback. I remembered that I had loved it the first time so thought I'd read that one again. This book was written in 1946. I sat down in the cool of the Bali hut with a cuppa and started flipping through the pages, reading about the author and thinking that gosh, Mum probably had that book since the late 1940s and reminiscing about that.

Then, I came upon a page that had the stamp of my high school on it! Oops.... Obviously, I had borrowed it from the school library and omitted to return it. Not naming the school - but hoping they don't charge late fees .... Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it again and realised why I had such fond memories of it

One of my granddaughters who also came to Greece last year gave me a set of cards for Christmas – Oracle of Delphi. I have been choosing a card each morning. I just love this morning’s card (Alchemist), its message and the affirmation:

“I welcome the alchemy between spirit and substance. I change the frequency of my thoughts and infuse them with the essence of love to consciously create miracles in my life”

The talisman for the card is a white rose, “imbued with the sweet-scented fragrance of hope, symbolising transformation, purity and peace”. A beautiful start to my day 💙

Although I was barely present on social media over the holidays, a friend shared something from Instagram. Whilst there, I came across something that stopped me in my tracks. It was a post from “Walk for Peace USA” - a group of Buddhist monks who are walking 2,300 miles from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington in the name of Peace. Their dog, Aloka, is walking with them.

Each time I see their posts, I cry.

Thousands of people gather as the monks pass by, offering flowers, food, water. Children give them drawings. Along the way, the monks have given talks, spoken quietly with individuals, offered blessings and tied blessing threads around waiting wrists.

In Columbia, thousands of people walked behind them across a bridge to a Peace Gathering. Not hundreds. Thousands. I had tears streaming down my face watching this.

The people want World Peace.
I hope leaders are watching.

You might like to follow them for the final part of their journey.

“May you and all beings be well, happy and at Peace” 💙🙏
