What's New in Research? hEDS
hEDS (hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) is a long misunderstood (and likely highly underdiagnosed) condition.
For too long it has been simplified to "hypermobility", without anything more being known.
However, EDS is far more than loose joints. A major study in 2024 followed 2,000 people with hEDS. This showed that many people experienced pain, fatigue, exercise tolerance and people 'not being able to get stronger', as well as symptoms like constant dizziness, digestive issues, and immune system changes. It appears to have a strong link to neurodivergence. It also showed that the current diagnostic criteria are not really cutting it.
New criteria are being developed and should be released in 2026, which will mean a diagnosis is easier to get!
