💚 We’re Growing at New Kompas! 💚

I’m so excited to officially introduce Amy Durham, who has joined New Kompas as a Support Coordinator.

Amy brings over 5 years of experience in disability support, with a strong focus on psychosocial disability and mental health. She works in a trauma-informed, person-centred way and builds strong, trusting relationships with participants and families.

She also has a genuine love for working with children and young people, supporting them in ways that feel safe, empowering and consistent. This is especially important for families navigating complex needs — and Amy does this beautifully.

Her background includes:
✨ Mental health and emotional regulation support
✨ Neurodivergent support (ASD, ADHD and more)
✨ Behaviour support and daily living assistance
✨ Advocacy and empowering people to make their own choices
✨ Strong documentation and professional practice

Amy has also worked as a self-employed support worker, so she understands compliance, service agreements, and the practical side of delivering quality supports.

She is currently completing her Life Coaching certification and is planning further study through a Diploma of Mental Health — showing her commitment to continuous professional growth.

What I personally love about Amy is her empathy, reliability, and calm, grounded presence. She aligns beautifully with New Kompas values: respect, dignity, consistency, and participant-centred practice.

Melissa brings a wealth of experience to the team, having worked for many years as a Registered Nurse. She has extensive knowledge in the disability sector and a deep commitment to providing person-centered support.

Her warm, compassionate nature and clinical background make her a valuable addition to our growing team—and we’re extremely happy to have her on board! 💙

This week, Stacey, our Psychosocial Recovery Coach, has come up with a fun way to incorporate a day out in nature with your NDIS and RECOVERY GOALS ✨️💜

Kayaking offers numerous mental health benefits that can significantly support recovery goals in several ways:

*Reduces stress and anxiety*: Kayaking's calming environment and soothing sounds of nature help calm the mind, reducing stress and anxiety.

*Builds confidence and self-efficacy*: Overcoming challenges on the water enhances confidence and self-belief.

*Provides a sense of accomplishment*: Reaching kayaking goals, such as completing a challenging trip or learning new skills, gives individuals a sense of pride and achievement.

By incorporating kayaking into a recovery plan, individuals can leverage these benefits to support their mental health journey and work towards their recovery goals.
