Samhain🖤🌌
A time when we recognize the symbolic death of our sun, as the nights grow longer and the days grow colder, and we prepare for the oncoming months of winter. Samhain, also known as All Hallows' Eve or Halloween, is recognized as the Feast of the Dead and celebrated in the Southern Hemisphere when the sun reaches 15 degrees Ta**us on the Astrological Wheel. Although the commercial aspect of Halloween, with dressing up and collecting lollies, is still celebrated on October 31 in alignment with the time of Samhain in the Northern Hemisphere, it's roots are in the cycle of the seasons and as such we who reside in the Southern Hemisphere must recognize the changing cycle of the seasons as it is relevant to us. It is said that during this time of year the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest. Samhain is a time when we remember our loved ones who have passed, whilst reflecting that the cycle of the seasons is symbolic of the cycle of life. For everything that comes into being must too pass away, such is the nature of life on this physical plane. As the colder months approach we recognize what in our lives we may need to let go of. For although we understand death to mean the physical end of life, we in fact experience many symbolic deaths throughout our lives; the end of a job, relationship, or transitions between different stages of our lives. Death may represent the end of a way of being, recognizing any limiting thought patterns and beliefs within ourself that we are ready to release as we learn and grow and willingly transform that part of ourselves.
Today, the 5 May, is also the time of the New Moon, as the sun and moon Conjunct in our skies at exactly 14 degrees Ta**us. The new moon is a time of quiet reflection and introspection. A time when we may go within and recognize all the emotions and thoughts that have been revealing themselves of late, guiding us to recognize the fears and wounds that are still buried within us and perhaps are ready to be released. Allow yourself this quiet time and be gentle with yourself. As this New Moon coincides with Samhain the power of release is amplified. This is a sacred time to be truly honest with yourself. Find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed and write on a piece of paper all that you wish to release over the next moon cycle. Light a candle and carefully burn the piece of paper to release all that you are ready to let go of upon your own healing journey. Say "I lovingly release the past. I keep only the love and the lessons." Watch the paper burn as a symbolic representation of the death of the old ways of living from a fear based reality as you are prepared to move forward with love and trust. The energy of Ta**us relates to our sense of physical and material safety and security, our body and self worth, our work and source of income, our home and sense of comfort. As a result, the fearful thought patterns or emotional wounds we are ready to release may relate to these areas of our lives. Trust knowing the universe lives through us and everything is as it is meant to be.
Be gentle with yourself at this time as the suns energy wanes and the moon is dark, so too our own energy may need time for rest and renewal. Take time for self care, nap, journal, drink tea and eat chocolate, have a warm bath, read a book or watch your favourite show. Self care is necessary, for without giving to ourselves and filling our own sense of self and taking time for healing, we have nothing to give or share with anyone else.
Perhaps this day is extra special to me as I remember my own father who passed away on the 5 May, 1989, exactly thirty years ago. With my growing understanding of astrology I was surprised to find that on this same date 30 years ago it was also a New Moon at exactly 14 degrees Ta**us, exactly as it is today, the night before Samhain, All Hallows' Eve, the Feast of the Dead. In loving memory of my father, family and friends who have passed, I know that we are at our core energy. That which we perceive to be physical is in fact billions of atoms mathematically arranged to appear as solid. However atoms are themselves really whirling particles of energy. Everything is energy and it is scientifically proven that energy never dies, it only transforms states. Know that our loved ones energy is always near as they guide us through our lives and whisper messages in silence, through our dreams, repeated signs, symbols and synchronicities.
Much love 🙏🌑♉️✨
