Can't stop people-pleasing or keeping the peace? Here's why.
Your nervous system isn't broken. It's protecting you.

When you much younger and grew up in an environment where your safety depended on keeping the peace, managing emotions, or being very "helpful"—your brain learned a survival rule: If I stay small and keep everyone happy, I stay safe and I survive.
That rule kept you alive.

But here's what happens: when you try to change—when you set a boundary, speak up, or take space—your nervous system panics. It sabotages you. It whispers: "If you do this, something bad will happen to you or ones that you love. So, you faithfully obey it.

That's not weakness. That's survival logic still trying to protect you using outdated rules.

The question isn't: Why can't I stop people-pleasing? The real question is: What am I protecting myself from by still staying small?

Fawn forfeits on your behalf, makes you sacrifice without conscious consent. You become the permanent assistant to everyone’s success and happiness while forsaking our own. Forever on the cursed merry-go-round, questioning when is it ever going to be my turn?
