Birthed by Grace

Birthed by Grace Rebekah is a wife, mother of 3 and located in Ipswich. She is a passionate Christian birth worker se www.birthedbygrace.com

My name is Rebekah and I am a mother, a wife, a Christian and a doula, specialising in freebirth and assisting mothers to awaken their understanding of their own body’s health and functions. Within this care I provide, an individual path is illuminated for each mother's unique journey. The insight gained awards her the right and ability to follow her informed education into intuition led decisions during pregnancy and birth that will extend throughout the rest of her life. I am very passionate about the birth process and am offering support services for pregnant women because I believe every woman needs support during such a special time in their life. I wish to be able to give support physically and emotionally to women in whatever way they choose to birth their babies. I specialise my knowledge and experience in intuition led births and unassisted home births. I have experience with VBAC, breech and twin mums as well as FTM's and experienced birthing mums. Rebekah's first child was a home unassisted water birth and she had an amazing doula in attendance.

Hello ladies - reintroducing myself

Birth support in Toowoomba

I am finally feeling able to provide support and service again as a doula, to the women up here now that my baby is almost 1 and our home situation allows me to have care for her if needed.

I attended births a couple years ago for about 4yrs and have attended over 30 births including breech freebirth, twin freebirth, first time mums at hospital and home, vbac freebirth, have supported mums with pp bleeds, transfers and also attending to situations and staying home.
The core of how I support women is by coming alongside her choices, supporting, encouraging, providing information where requested and ultimately trusting her to know her body and reminding her that she knows her body and baby best above all others.

I grew up watching my younger siblings births at home and understanding the natural nature of birth and the ability in trusting how God created our bodies.

I have birthed 4 baby's, I freebirthed my first at 18, experienced a traumatic but non emergent transfer with my second, healing freebirth with my third and a very intuition led 42wk labour and ultimately transfer and C section with my 4th.

I will be taking up to 2 clients a month at the moment and if you're desiring the support of a doula in your pregnancy birth and postpartum please don't hesitate to reach out with enquiries or questions. I always offer free in person consults to see if we fit 😊

So excited to be back in this space!

I've spent some much needed time away and have been on a massive journey. The most recent which was the birth of my daughter through my first C section, a medical baby and long hospital stay.

My passion for this space has been fuelled during this experience and I'm coming back with fresh ideas and ways to support you in your journeys, particularly outside of attending births as this will still be on hold.
I will be back sharing more in here while I create something exciting to share in the coming months and I wanted to start by sharing the birth of my daughter Constance ☺️

These last four years I have been so privileged to have been welcomed into such private spaces in supporting a mother in bringing forth her child. I have continued to learn so much about myself and about mother's walking this path.
I have loved it all but I think for a while now I have known my time in the birth space in such a raw and intimate moment has been coming to an end. Within the experience of losing my beloved unborn baby it has made this even more stronger that it was time to put this season behind me. I won't fight it but instead be glad for all the time I had in this passion supporting women and will see out the remaining women I have in my care to support but will not be taking on anymore clients for births.
I am in a different season of life that is calling me to new passions and desires, to learn new skills and grow in different ways.
Thank again so much to all of the amazing women I walked with, some multiple times. You know who you are.
All my love
Bek

Working further in His blessing is my main goal for any business that I run. I am blessed to know a talented woman of God who recently released Christian based birth affirmation cards. They are such gorgeous, beautiful appealing cards and I'm sure the mums I support will fully appreciate these for their pregnancy and birth journeys

Reshared from

Postpartum haemorrhage (>1000mls blood loss) is one circumstance that some birthing families are concerned about when planning a homebirth. It often comes up in our early appointments when someone asks… ‘what will you do if I bleed at home’… I talk to them about how I have a plan, a second midwife, medication, equipment and the option of transfer to a hospital if needed… BUT what is also important to know is that just by planning a homebirth (even if you don’t give birth at home), you are approximately 3 times LESS likely to have a postpartum haemorrhage than if you intend to give birth in hospital. In this study by Nove et al (2012) comparing odds of postpartum haemorrhage in planned homebirth against planned hospital birth: results of an observational study of over 500 000 maternities in the UK, it was discovered that the rate of PPH for intended hospital births is 1.04% and for intended homebirths it’s 0.38%.
Not only are we prepared to manage PPH at home, but we are approximately 3 times less likely to need to. This study of half a million births shows that management of birth at home reduces Postpartum haemorrhage significantly. The authors of this study concluded that women and their partners should be advised that the risk of PPH is higher among births planned to take place in hospital compared to births planned to take place at home.

When women embrace our design in our ability to birth, we start to see a breakaway from fear, from interventions, from things going wrong and we start seeing women heal, women trusting their bodies and women don't have to give over their bodies power anymore.
My two freebirths are two of the most amazing, empowering and life changing experiences of my life. My last freebirth was an intense, pain free, healing journey, his whole pregnancy that lead into the most amazing birth experience.
This and many more reasons is why I supports mums who choose to freebirth their babies. I will always stand with you in this. And I'm so privileged to have been welcomed into so many families homes to hold their hands as their bring their babies forth in this amazing dance of creation.

I took a much needed break from attending births, life caught up to me and God led me to seek healing.

There's this absurd and honestly unhelpful notion that when you hit 10cm dilated you should magically start pushing.

Mums, this isn't really the case.
Don't get me wrong, 10cm is the time when there is enough space and the cervix has been pulled up high enough on your fundus to allow the baby to come down into the birthing canal.
But!
It does not mean you will suddenly get the urge to push or that you should start anyway.
Michael Odent recommends allowing the baby to descend into the birthing canal and waiting until you can see their head before you start thinking about actively pushing.
You shouldn't push just because the doctor or midwife say to, that will tire you and baby out while also doing damage to your muscles.
It's also good to note that when someone says they birthed their baby not long after they were told they were at a 6 or 7, it doesn't mean they pushed a baby out at that dilation, it simply shows how quickly the cervix things and moves up and away allowing the room for baby.
The body is an amazing creation and I don't think I will ever run out of things to share that leave me in awe of His design.

We need to get back to what we know as mother's to be the best for our children. Mother's ask why their babies cry everytime they put them down only because they haven't been taught to follow their motherhood intuition and know their baby needs closeness, hear the rhythm of her heart, and smell her to be safe and feel safe. They need you and you need them.

Did your baby have a nuchal cord?
Its more often than not that I will hear a mother share her concern of what if the cord is around their neck? won't it cause issues with them breathing?

The easy answer is no. A nuchal cord is a low-risk concern of ever causing issues mainly because they do not breathe through their mouth until after birth and also because of an amazing part of the cord called Wharton's jelly which is a gelatinous substance that provides insulation and protection within the umbilical cord. The cord has 1 vein and 2 arteries that are protected by this jelly and therefore, although some construction may happen to the cord during birth, the oxygen is still able to flow through to the baby's heart and once the pressure eases the flow of oxygen will continue to flow through until they take their own breath and it eventually stops pulsing.

If He designed our bodies and the amazing way for us to bring our children into this world then we need to give thanks for Him and let go of our worlds teaching on birth.⁣

He will guide our path if we just trust. Don't be afraid of what's to come in your journey but instead bring all your worries and concerns to lay at His feet. ⁣

Share your desires and wait for His amazing blessings upon your birth story. You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength.
