This November, as part of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, we’re focusing on raising awareness about the steps you can take to lower your risk of lung cancer.

While smoking remains the leading cause of lung cancer, there are several other proactive measures you can take to protect your health, including maintaining a healthy lifestyle, reducing exposure to harmful chemicals, and monitoring any respiratory symptoms. Early detection through screening is key to improving outcomes.

We are committed to supporting you in staying ahead of lung cancer with the National Lung Cancer Screening Program. If you're between 50-70 years old, have a history of smoking, and show no symptoms of lung cancer, you may be eligible for a free screening. Early detection through a low-dose CT scan can make all the difference in improving survival rates.

Book an appointment with your GP today to discuss your eligibility for the screening program.

At Yamanto Family Practice, our priority is your health, not rushing through appointments.

We are a mixed billing practice because this model directly supports the high-quality, comprehensive care you deserve. It allows our GPs to dedicate the necessary time for thorough examinations, detailed discussions about your health concerns, and essential preventative planning—all without compromising on access.

We choose quality over volume to ensure every patient leaves feeling heard, understood, and well-cared for.

Thank you for trusting us with your family's wellbeing.

For a wide variety of reasons, men can find it difficult to seek help with their health concerns. If they break a bone, they won’t delay getting it fixed. But when it comes to prevention and seeking emotional support, seeking medical help is typically not a priority for men. .

This year Movember is focusing on 3 key areas of men’s health:

💥Mental health
💥Prostate Cancer
💥Testicular Cancer

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in Australian women, with 1 in 7 women diagnosed during their lifetime.

Age is the biggest risk factor in developing breast cancer, with most breast cancers occurring in women over the age of 50.

The BreastScreen Australia program provides free mammograms every two years for women aged 40 and over, with women aged 50 to 74 actively invited by state and territory programs.

Since the program’s introduction, the 5-year breast cancer survival rate has improved to 94%. In 2023, 6,410 participants aged 50–74 had an invasive breast cancer detected through the program.

If eligible, you can book your free 2-yearly screening appointment by calling 📞 13 20 50. The phone service will connect you to your nearest service for the cost of a local call.

Breast screening services are available in more than 750 locations, including purpose built mobile vans, buses and 4WDs that provide breast cancer screening services in locations across Australia.

More information about BreastScreen Australia is available at www.health.gov.au/bsa.

Did you know Prostate Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men with 20,000 diagnoses and close to 3,300 deaths each year? Prostate cancer kills more men than breast cancer kills women.

We want to encourage all men over 50 years of age, or 40 years if they have a family history of prostate cancer to talk to their GP about testing for prostate cancer, as part of their regular health check-up.
