Physioactive

Physioactive Physioactive is a private multi-disciplinary allied health clinic located in Ipswich.

The services we provide include in-rooms treatment, home visits, gym visits, clinical pilates, hydrotherapy and massage therapy. Physioactive is a private physiotherapy practice located in the medical precinct of Ipswich. As Ipswich grows, the practice continues to provide care to the local community, as well as attracting an increasing number of clients from the surrounding areas. Physioactive was established in 1988 by Darrin Neumann and Anne Mitchell and has grown with the needs of the Ipswich community. It now operates with and employs a large team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Remedial Massage Therapists and an increasing number of support staff. Two important features of Physioactive are the stability of staff and the diversity of our skill base, which has seen many of our Physiotherapists develop further experience and expertise into a range of specialised areas. Our aim is to provide optimal physiotherapy care, whilst creating a warm and friendly environment that allows our clients to enjoy their time with us.

Love is in the air! Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating love, whether it’s love for a partner, friend, pet or family member.
While today is officially the day to plan something sweet for the special someone in your life, remember that you don’t need to wait for a specific day to show someone you care.

The goal: Who can strap an ankle the fastest without sacrificing effectiveness 👀🦶🏽

Shoutout to our volunteer Bridget for lending her ankles!

The first step to anything is preparation, and sport is no exception!
But when it comes to warming up, it can be hard to know what to do. The key is in the phrase warm-up. You want to get your body moving, and warm up those muscles to help reduce the risk of injury.
To do this, focus on movement. You want to get your blood pumping and elevate your heartrate gradually. Think skipping, speed walking, jogging (it can be on the spot) or anything else that gets you moving.
You can then follow this with more high-intensity exercises, and additional movements that activate specific muscle groups, such as your core, glutes or quads.
Don’t overthink it!

If you’ve never seen a physio before, you’re not alone!
Telling someone exactly what we do can be tricky because we work across so many different areas to help our patients. We also often work closely with other allied health professionals to ensure each patient is getting the best care for their condition.
So what do physios do? A lot!

Pain is a topic we talk about often with our patients, and it can sometimes be difficult to know what pain is normal and what needs attention.
For example, it is common to feel some discomfort after increasing activity or trying something new. However, pain that lingers, worsens over time, or starts to interfere with your day-to-day activities may be a sign that something else is going on.
You know your body best. Paying attention to how it feels and how it responds to movement is important, especially if something doesn’t feel quite right.
As physiotherapists, our role is to help identify factors contributing to the experience of pain and support you to keep moving safely and confidently. If you have concerns or ongoing discomfort, we are here to help and guide you.

Perfect posture doesn’t mean you have to sit perfectly in one spot all day. It’s actually about variety! 🪑
Here are three things to remember if you’re sitting at a desk:
1. Make sure you change positions regularly.
2. Take regular breaks.
3. Be mindful of how you sit or stand. This can help keep you comfortable and moving well throughout the day.
We know it’s easy to get in the zone while you work, so if you find you’re not moving regularly, set yourself a timer for every 30 minutes to get up and have a micro-break or short stretch.

Hands up if you stretch properly before exercise?
Don’t worry, we’ve all been guilty of not warming up at some point. But taking time to warm up properly not only makes moving feel a whole lot easier - it also helps to reduce your risk of injury.
So before you hit the footy field, pitch or court, take a few minutes to warm up, stretch, and get your body moving. Your body will thank you for it!

After school holidays, it’s time to reset those routines, but also to check that the brand-new backpack is adjusted properly for a comfy fit and good posture.

lanning some summer bike rides? 🚴‍♂️
Cycling is a great activity to keep you active, while being low-impact on your joints.
If you’re new to cycling, it’s important to set yourself up for success.
Before you ride, adjust your bike seat and pump up your tyres before a ride and take a few minutes to warm up before hopping on the bike.
