So brave to share your experience Dr Nick! I have been there as well and know that feeling all too well of when you need to get help. The feeling of completely being frozen and not wanting to face the world. The mental and emotional health of my clients is paramount and probably the most important part of my daily work ❤️ I’ll never stop helping those with trauma and ensuring they have the support they need.

I haven’t posted for a long time but this is too important not to share. I cannot wait to be a part of this week long learning to be part of creating a more trauma informed community. It makes us remember how to be human and show compassion towards each other by understanding how trauma shapes all of us 🖤

IT'S ABOUT BLOODY TIME!

Today I announced a Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Su***de will be established.

The Royal Commission will complement the Government’s existing initiative to establish a permanent National Commission for Defence and Veteran Su***de Prevention.

The Royal Commission will have a mandate to examine the systemic issues and any common themes and past deaths by su***de of Australian Defence Force members and veterans and the experience of members and veterans who may continue to be at risk of su***de and put forward recommendations.

Australia has made a solemn promise to our service men and women and our veterans to never forget – and every year we invest $11.5 billion in support of veterans and their families to keep that promise.

My hope is that the Royal Commission will help with the healing process. I hope it will be a process by which veterans and families can find some comfort, but it obviously can't replace the loss.
