Did you grow up thinking ADHD was just that "naughty kid who wouldn't listen"?
Let's challenge that.
For years, especially through the 80s, 90s and even 00s, ADHD was boxed into one idea: disruptive, lazy, unmotivated. But the truth is, those same brains can hold incredible creativity, intuition and brilliance.
Take Lionel Richie for example.
He's spoken about how he can't read or write music, yet he can pick up an instrument and "figure it out" by ear. He'll come up with a melody or lyric, test it out, and if someone says, "That's great, what's next?" he'll then pour his energy into finishing it. That's how his brain words, full of spontaneous genius, drive by connection and feedback.
When I hear stories like his, I can't help but think of some of the kids in my life, the ones who drive us wild because they can't seem to close a cupboard door, but whose minds are bursting with potential.
The same brain that struggles in structured environments, can also create beauty, innovation and magic.
So be curious.
Look for strengths.
You never know what brilliance is waiting to shine.

Lyrics by Lionel Richie.....
I may be just a foolish dreamer
But I don’t care
Cause I know my happiness
Is waiting out there, somewhere . . .
Whoa, zoom, I’d like to fly far away from here
Where my mind, oh Lord, is fresh and clear
And I’ll find the love that I long to see
Where everybody can be what they wanna be . . .
Whoa, I wish the world were truly happy
Living as one
I wish the world they call freedom
Someday would come
