Lung cancer screening saves lives
A new National Lung Cancer Screening Program is now available to help find lung cancer earlier.
You may be eligible for a free scan if you are:
• aged 50-70, and
• currently smoke or have quit in the past 10 years, and
• have no signs or symptoms or lung cancer,
• have a history of to***co cigarette smoking of at least 30 pack-years.
The test involves a free low-dose CT scan of your chest to look for signs of lung cancer called
nodules.
The scan is quick and doesn’t involve any needles. Your appointment will usually take around 10 to
15 minutes.
The earlier lung cancer is found, the better our chances of treating it. When found early, over 65% of
lung cancers can be successfully treated.
Lung cancer screening could save your life. If you think you might be eligible, speak to a doctor or
healthcare provider.

Give us a call on 55477733 and book your appt.

If you’re aged between 50 to 70 with a history of smoking, you may be eligible for a free lung screen.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

It’s a day to honour the memories of those we’ve lost to su***de and to offer support to those facing difficult times and those living with the grief of losing someone.

The message of ‘Changing the Narrative on Su***de’ encourages us to change how we talk about su***de. To replace silence and stigma for empathy, compassion and action.

We all have a role to play in staying connected, showing up for those we care about and helping those struggling access the support they need.

Show the people around you that you’re there for them by asking 'are you OK?'. Because a conversation could change a life.

🌞 Have you had your skin checked lately?

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world — but the good news is that when found early, most skin cancers are highly treatable. That’s why regular skin checks are so important.

At our clinic, we use the FotoFinder ATBM (Automated Total Body Mapping) system – one of the most advanced tools for early skin cancer detection.

✨ What does it do?
✔️ Creates a detailed full-body photographic map of your skin
✔️ Records every mole and spot, so nothing is missed
✔️ Tracks and compares changes over time to pick up even the smallest differences
✔️ Helps doctors detect suspicious lesions earlier than the naked eye alone

This means greater accuracy, fewer unnecessary biopsies, and most importantly — peace of mind for you.

💡 If you’ve noticed a new spot, a change in a mole, or if it’s simply been a while since your last skin check, now is the time to book.

📞 Call us today on 07 5547 7733 to arrange your skin check.

Early detection saves lives — make your skin a priority. ❤️

At Jimboomba Junction Family Practice & Skin Cancer Clinic, we are committed to providing high-quality, proactive healthcare - this includes the early detection and management of skin cancer.

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer globally, making regular skin checks an essential part of your ongoing health care. A comprehensive skin check involves a full-body examination by a trained doctor using specialised equipment to detect any suspicious moles, lesions, or skin changes that may require further assessment or treatment.

Early detection significantly increases the chances of successful treatment. Our experienced team is trained to identify skin cancer's in their earliest stages, often before they become visible or symptomatic.

We recommend annual skin checks for all adult, and more frequently monitoring for individuals with a personal or family history of skin cancer, fair skin, extensive sun exposure, or numerous moles.

Your skin health is our priority. If you have noticed any new, changing, or unusual spots, or if it has been more than 12 months since your last skin check, we encourage you to book an appointment today.

Protect your health, early detection saves lives

❤️ HEART WEEK 2025 – Never Miss a BEAT ❤️
📅 5–11 May 2025

This Heart Week, we're joining the Heart Foundation in urging our community to prioritise heart health — because heart disease is still Australia's leading cause of death, claiming over 40,000 lives each year.

Did you know nearly half of Australians don’t know their family history of heart disease? Knowing your risk is one of the most important things you can do for your health.

I encourage everyone eligible to book a Medicare-subsidised Heart Health Check with their GP, it’s quick — just 20 minutes — and it could save your life. Call us on 07) 55477733

💡 Here’s how you can take action this Heart Week:
✔️ Book a Heart Health Check: If you're 45+ (or 30+ for First Nations peoples, 35+ with diabetes), talk to your GP.
✔️ Share the message: Encourage your loved ones to check their heart health.
✔️ Get walking: Join a Heart Foundation Walking group near you or start your own!
✔️ Eat for your heart: Discover heart-healthy recipes and tips online.
