💛Challenging stereotypes. Changing the conversation.
Ben Felten is an Australian born motorcyclist, speaker and inclusion advocate and the first blind rider in the world to set a land speed record, reaching 266 km/h at Lake Gairdner in South Australia.
Ben was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at 15. By 37, he was totally blind. But blindness didn’t define the limits of his life, low expectations did.
Today, Ben is a motivational speaker, inclusivity thought leader, and founder of the charity In Sight of Dreams, supporting people with disability to reconnect with confidence, purpose and possibility.
At SNG Healthcare, we share stories like Ben’s not to “celebrate difference,” but to challenge stereotypes and remind our community that everyone deserves to be seen for who they are, not what others assume. Ben Felten’s story reminds us that ability isn’t defined by labels. Let’s keep sharing great achievements and changing the narrative. Our 2026 Inclusion Insights are back! Ever seen a service dog in action and wondered what’s “okay” and what’s not? Here’s a few tips that SNG Healthcare has collected from Participants who have Service animals
✨ Hands off while they’re working, a service dog is on duty please do not pet them or distract them while they are working, it can put their handler at risk
✨ Give space, they’re helping their handler with important tasks.
✨ Ask before helping if you think help is required, sometimes the handler’s got it covered and any interruptions can put their handler at risk.
✨ No treats or toys unless invited.
Let us all do our part, by following these simple tips, we can all help create safer, more inclusive environments for people who rely on service dogs.

♿ December 3 – International Day of Persons with Disabilities ♿
Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of people with disability around the world.
The theme for the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities is “Fostering disability: inclusive societies for advancing social progress.” A powerful reminder of the importance of breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for everyone to fully participate. At SNG Healthcare Solutions, we believe that inclusion is not just a goal, it’s a responsibility. Through our work as an NDIS provider, we see the potential, creativity, and power in every individual we support. We are proud to walk alongside our participants as they break down barriers, pursue independence, and lead lives full of choice and opportunity. Together, let’s keep challenging assumptions, removing barriers, and celebrating abilities, today and every day.

Early this month, our team recently attended a powerful Epilepsy WA conference, learning from world-leading neurologists and people with lived experience of epilepsy. The knowledge shared and the courage of those who spoke was truly inspiring. One moment that really stood out was learning that a single dose of epilepsy medication can cost around AU $500 in the U.S., compared to about AU $30 here under the PBS. On conducting further research we learnt just how large the gap can be: Cholesterol medication: AU $21 vs US $2,628, Antidepressant medication: AU $21 vs US $2,244, Blood pressure medication: AU $25.90 vs US $631. (source: The Australia Institute). These comparisons really put things into perspective. Our system isn’t perfect, no system is and yes we may not be the most affordable on the global stage but accessible, affordable medication is something we should acknowledge and truly value.
Thank you Epilepsy WA for such a meaningful and educational day. As providers, it’s essential that we stay connected to both global standards of care and the voices of the people we support. Healthcare

🌟Inspiring Stories at SNG Healthcare: From Isolation to Thriving🌟
We often hear negative stories about the NDIS, but what we don’t hear enough of are the countless lives it has transformed, and the dedication of providers who do the right thing for the participants they support.
Sometimes, the biggest transformations start with the smallest steps. For over three years, one of our participants had stayed inside his home, avoiding any community outings or engagement, until SNG Healthcare Solutions began supporting him in mid-July this year. With patience, gentle encouragement, and a trauma-informed approach from our team, everything has since changed. Today, he’s living a life full of connection and purpose. enjoying outings for coffee, lunch, and even an occasional drink. From Motor car shows and Beach days to hitting the gym with enthusiasm, the list of activities goes on. Now, instead of saying, “I don’t want to go anywhere,” he’s the one asking, “What’s next?”
Transformations like this happen when participants receive the right support from providers who genuinely put their wellbeing first.
If you have a positive NDIS story to share, we’d love to hear it and celebrate it with you. Let’s shine a light on the outcomes that uplift our community

🌺 Remembrance Day; Lest We Forget 🌺
November 11th is more than a date on the calendar, it's a moment to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who served in times of conflict and peace. We pause to remember and honour the brave men and women who served and continue to serve our country. Their sacrifice has given us the freedoms we enjoy today. At SNG Healthcare Solutions, we’re reminded that the impacts of service both visible and invisible can last a lifetime. Many veterans live with lasting physical and psychological challenges, and we stand committed to supporting them and others in our community through quality and compassionate care
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

SNG Healthcare Inclusion Insights: Approaching Someone in a Wheelchair
Have you ever felt unsure how to approach someone in a wheelchair? Maybe you’ve wondered what to say or if you should offer help at all? 🤔
You’re not alone! Many people want to do the right thing but just aren’t sure what that looks like.
At SNG Healthcare Solutions, we believe inclusion starts with understanding, so here’s what wheelchair users themselves want you to know:
💬“It’s okay to say hello, treat me like anyone else.”
💬 “Ask before helping, don’t assume I need assistance. Please Don’t touch or push our wheelchair without permission. Our wheelchair is part of our personal space, touching it is like touching us. Always ask before offering help, and if we say no, respect that. If we need help crossing the street, we’ll ask you. And remember: powerchairs can't be pushed”
💬 “Make eye contact and speak directly to me, not the person beside me.”
👉 Stay tuned for more Inclusion Insights as we share real voices and practical tips from people with lived experience.

Every Step Counts: Walking for Hope and a Future Without Huntington’s
On Sunday, 12th October, our SNG Healthcare team joined the Walk 4 Hope event organised by Huntington’s Australia, walking alongside individuals, families, friends, and advocates impacted by Huntington’s disease (HD).
Each step we took was filled with compassion, connection, understanding and hope, for every person and every family living with HD.
For us and our staff, this walk wasn’t just about showing support; it was about listening, learning, and standing in solidarity with the HD community. Hearing first hand about the ongoing research, advocacy, and awareness efforts was both inspiring and humbling.
The stories shared reminded us why empathy and understanding must guide every aspect of the care we provide. Let’s keep walking together for hope, for inclusion, for every family, and for a future where no one walks this journey alone.

National Carers Week | October 12–18 🌟
This week we shine a light on the incredible carers in our community.
Every day, carers go above and beyond, giving their time, their energy, and their hearts to support the people who depend on them.
Carers are the quiet achievers, the everyday heroes, and the backbone of care. Without them, the system simply couldn’t function.
To all carers: we see you, we value you, and we thank you.
Let’s take this week to pause, appreciate, and acknowledge the extraordinary role carers play not just in someone’s life, but in shaping stronger, more connected communities. Because caring is more than a role, it’s dedication that makes a difference every day.

World Mental Health Day: October 10th
At SNG Healthcare, we believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. This year’s theme is about raising awareness, breaking the stigma, and reminding each other that it’s okay to ask for help.
Mental health challenges affect us all, directly or indirectly. By talking openly, showing kindness, and offering support, we can create a community where no one feels alone.
Remember: You don’t have to walk the journey alone. Reach out to a friend, a loved one, or a professional.
Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate future.
