Thank you to all my beautiful clients who have been asking about my dear aunt, my recovery and my return to clinic.

Early September we farewelled my aunt on angels wings to the heavens above. Finally at peace and resting. I am so thankful for the collective love and support you all gave me through this last year.

I look forward to letting you know my return date to clinic very soon.

Hi All. 😊
As promised here is my update on the first world arm problem. Still some swelling to go away and some movement to return but going pretty well I think. Managed a nice sauna and bath today and a successful (VERY needed) hair wash experience, so that was truly lovely.
This journey has been more difficult than anticipated with physical and mental challenges, commanding stillness and patience, neither being strengths of mine, but i am working towards becoming an A student of. 🤦‍♀️
Still u sure of my return to clinic timeframe but will let you all know as soon as i do.

Thank you to those who have sent beautiful messages and thank you to all those who have helped and continue to help me despite your own life demands. I could not, still cannot, do it without you. 💕

🙌 At this sensory heightened time of year it’s good to be reminded of such wisdom.

I think this is the most beautiful frame on the interplay of language and emotion. In the vastness of our experiences — the shipwrecks, the riptides, the storms — there’s a critical moment when what we’re feeling washes into language. That’s the moment everything changes. After struggling in that sea, wrapping words around our emotions can feel like finally being able to stand and catch our breath. The waves will certainly still toss us around, but we can touch the bottom, and we can see a way to that shore.

In a world where so many of us are feeling emotionally dysregulated, disconnected from ourselves and each other, and distrustful of the world in general, the heart can feel like a treacherous sea. Safe passage to shore seems even more essential, and this means increasing our emotional vocabulary. We need more shoreline — more words, more access to the nuanced differences between emotions that can present in similar ways.

Our team has been digging back into “Atlas of the Heart” and sharing what we’ve learned and continue to learn about some of the flotsam and jetsam that we’re all navigating around right now. We’ve explored despair and hope (in micro-doses), stress and overwhelm, and we’re working on some posts for the new year.

We’re also excited about revisiting stories we wrote for our 2024 ABK Edit. We’re so grateful for the people who are being awkward, brave, and kind with their work and their lives. The wisdom and beauty they’re putting out into the world feels like it’s own kind of life preserver.

Soundtrack for this quote has to be “Sailing” by Christopher Cross. I love a song about sailing that actually feels like the wind. And, your fun fact for today — courtesy of my friend Rick Beato — that orchestral intro to “Sailing” was an accident. The two tracks didn’t sync so we lucked into that gorgeous intro. Good music is always helpful in a rough sea!

I don’t share much on this platform but have followed The Artidote for some time with great respect, and really felt called to share today.

We are in a great season of change. A time of great completion and great awakening for everyone.

This beautiful writing holds a powerful truth I wish for you all

Your dreams chose you for a reason; so stop doubting your blessings and challenges. They are there for a reason. ⁣

For a big chunk of my life I didn’t allow myself to be wholly me, especially around people that mattered to me, fearing I wouldn’t be accepted or understood. There was a whole world within me that didn’t see the light of day because I kept telling myself, “if nobody understands or values it, what’s the point of showing it?”⁣
⁣
I would only express the parts of myself I knew others would clap for. And I kept repeating this unhelpful pattern in life and bringing it into every relationship. ⁣ At work, amongst my friends and especially with my romantic partners, I only allowed them to see the parts of me I thought they would like. While trying to kill in secret the cringey, awkward, “weird” parts of myself.

The problem was that I thought this would make me happy. ⁣
⁣
It didn’t.

Instead, I succeeded in merely creating a limited world around me that only say parts of me and became a chronic people pleaser in the process, having no sense of self.
⁣
I had grown so afraid of being abandoned that I didn’t realize I was constantly abandoning myself. ⁣👁️
⁣
Have you ever felt lonely in a crowded room, where people would look at you but not really see you?⁣
⁣
Here’s what I learned from breaking that pattern:⁣
⁣
🧿 You don’t get rid of the cringey parts, you get rid of the part that cringes. ⁣
⁣
🧬 The more you accept yourself, the more you become a match for what is meant for you. ⁣
⁣
🪆You are you and that is your power. ⁣
⁣
🦋 Your dreams chose you for a reason and it is up to you to cultivate the space for them to come to life.⁣
⁣
🧱The road towards your dreams is paved with self-compassion.⁣
⁣

Thanks to everyone for all the birthday love. I have had an incredible day/week/month 🤣 of celebrating. 🥳

Another year round the sun finds me feeling wiser, excited, freer, funner and more footloose on the dance floor, and in life than ever before. 😉
