Dr Mildred Mupfava is currently residing in the UK and is preparing to leave the UK this weekend to permantently settle in Perth. She will be joining the Mead Medical team from mid March.

Dr Mildred graduated in medicine from the University iof Zimbabwe in 2010 and has since gained over a decade of clincal experience.

Dr Mupfava moved from Zimbabwe to UK where she completed her GP speciality training further expanding her expertise in general medicine, geriatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and dermatology. She has a particular interest in minor surgery and joint injections and is dedicated to delivery high-quality, patient centred care with a holistic approach to both accute and chronic health conditions.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr Mupfava enjoys spending time with her family outdoors as well as photography and staying as active as possible.

Dr Harveen Singh will be starting to consult at Mead Medical after Easter!

Dr. Harveen Singh is an accomplished General Practitioner with over a decade of clinical experience. She completed her medical education at the University of Southampton, UK, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine (BM) in 2013. Following her graduation, she specialised in General Practice in the UK, achieving membership with the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in 2020.

Dr. Singh possesses a keen clinical interest in women’s health, sexual health, and mental health. She is committed to ongoing professional development to enhance patient care, recently completing her certification in Aesthetic Medicine with the British Aesthetic Academy (BAAUK), with plans to offer treatments in the near future. She is also trilingual, fluent in Punjabi and Bahasa Malaysia.

After residing in the United Kingdom for 18 years, Dr. Singh has permanently relocated to Perth with her young family to be closer to relatives. She is delighted to join the Mead Medical team and looks forward to contributing to the local community. Known for her patient-centred approach and excellent communication skills, she builds rapport with patients effortlessly.

Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Singh values a healthy work-life balance, enjoying travel, reading, and spending quality time with her family.

Today we celebrate the incredible women who make up the heart of our Mead Medical community.

From our doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to our reception, administration and leadership teams — women play an essential role in caring for our patients and supporting one another every day.

In healthcare, women show up with compassion, resilience and strength. They advocate for their patients, support their colleagues, and balance countless responsibilities both inside and outside of work.

International Women’s Day is a moment to recognise these contributions, but also to reflect on the importance of continuing to support, empower and create opportunities for women in healthcare and in our wider community.

To the women of Mead Medical — and to the women in the lives of our patients and staff — thank you for the care, leadership and kindness you bring into the world every day.

Today may be tagged as “Blue Monday” — but your mental health matters every day.

You might have heard that the third Monday in January is the “most depressing day of the year.” But this idea started as a PR stunt and hasn’t been supported by scientific evidence — one day isn’t inherently harder for everyone.

What does matter is how you’re feeling right now. January can be a tough time for many people — change in routine, financial strain, post-holiday pressures and missing family can all affect our mood.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, low in energy, or just “a bit off,” that’s okay — and you don’t have to go through it alone. Talking about how you feel, connecting with someone you trust, and reaching out to a GP or health professional can help you take positive steps forward.

Tips to support yourself and others:
• Check in with a friend or loved one today
• Take a walk or get some fresh air
• Break tasks into manageable steps
• Prioritise rest and self-care

Remember: mental health is important every day of the year, not just today. You deserve support whenever you need it — and we’re here to help. 💛

✨ New Podiatry Services at Mead Medical – Maida Vale ✨

We’re pleased to welcome Esther Ling, an experienced podiatrist, to our Maida Vale clinic.

Esther is returning to practice after starting her family and will be consulting every Thursday from 8:00am to 2:00pm, commencing Thursday 5 February.

Esther brings broad experience across private practice, community health and multidisciplinary care teams throughout Western Australia. She is known for her attentive, empathetic approach, taking the time to listen, set clear treatment goals, and support patients with practical strategies for long-term foot health.

We’re pleased to welcome Dr Thomas Weaver to Mead Medical, who will be joining our team as a GP Registrar from 2 February 👨‍⚕️

Dr Weaver is a highly experienced medical practitioner who has worked across Fiona Stanley Hospital as an Intern, Resident Medical Officer and Registrar. He brings a strong commitment to holistic, patient-centred care and values shared decision-making to support both acute and chronic health needs.

Before medicine, Dr Weaver worked extensively in exercise physiology and respiratory health, giving him a broad understanding of health, wellbeing, and multidisciplinary care. He is passionate about working collaboratively with patients, nurses, and allied health professionals to achieve the best outcomes.

We’re delighted to welcome Dr Liang Jong to the Mead Medical team as a GP Registrar from 2nd February.

Dr Jong is a Malaysian-born medical practitioner who graduated from Monash University and has been working in Western Australia since 2019. She brings a wealth of experience from several major hospitals, including Royal Perth Hospital, St John of God Midland and Perth Children’s Hospital, before transitioning into general practice.

Dr Jong enjoys the variety that general practice offers and has particular interests in palliative care, geriatrics, general medicine, and dermatology.

She will be working part-time across both our Kalamunda and Maida Vale clinics, and we’re excited for our patients to benefit from her thoughtful and well-rounded approach to care.

We’re pleased to welcome Dr Ainslie Jolliffe to the Mead Medical team as a GP registrar from 2nd February.

Originally from Bunbury, Ainslie moved to Perth to complete her medical degree at the University of Western Australia and has since worked across several Perth hospitals. Her experience includes acute and general medicine, geriatrics, and emergency medicine, giving her a strong foundation in both urgent and ongoing care.

Dr Jolliffe enjoys caring for patients and families across all stages of life, with particular interests in:
• General and family medicine
• Women’s health
• Chronic disease management
• Preventative care

She is looking forward to building trusted relationships with her patients.

Outside of work, Ainslie loves spending time at the beach with her family and their golden retriever.

Due to the fire emergency currently impacting Maida Vale and High Wycombe, and in line with safety advice, our Maida Vale clinic has closed early today.

The safety of our patients, staff, and community is our absolute priority.
