Cars for sale | We've recently stumbled across a host of Sports Sedans for sale that aren't advertised. If you want to get involved in local Sports Sedans next year, or earlier, reach out to our Queensland Sports Sedan Racing page for more information.

Share this one with your friends, relatives, co-workers, your mechanics, doctors and dentists, your exhaust shop and your local vet, wherever there's a closet car racer just waiting to break out let's help them go racing!

Help us grow, our next generation of Sports Sedans racer won't find us by accident and your help with that is valued, we're not and never will be the next Supercars Championship, what gets done here gets done together at community level.

Floor Pan cars or Spaceframe Silhouettes, V8s, rotaries, turbo 4s and 6s, something simple like an Improved Production Car, something midrange from the entry-level Sports Sedans, or a full-blown to the edge of the rules Sports Sedan build, we want to showcase all of them and give people a family friendly but competitive place to race their creations each year.

Found someone who wants to get involved but doesn't know how? Point them here, Queensland Sports Sedan Racing, and let them know they can reach out to us any time.

We're a club for racing drivers, but we're also Queensland's Sports Sedans club, the state's representative to the national Sports Sedan council and the contact point for Motorsport Australia when it comes to Queensland Sports Sedan Racing.

We would love to hear from you if you are interested in entry-level Sports Sedans, or if there's any other category in Motorsport Australia's State Championship you need information on we can help you out there as well.

We're working on plans for entry-level Sports Sedans racing in 2027 and beyond, but for today we flashback to the mid to late 90's and a period where Sports Sedans were resurgent in Queensland.

Driven initially by Ian Woodward a club series was developed for Under 2-Litre Sports Sedans. It attracted a long list of drivers and successfully pulled older Sports Sedans out of the sheds and back onto Lakeside's tarmac. It also spurred on the build of several new vehicles. Almost always these cars were part of the full Sports Sedans grid and not a breakaway, but this particular photo was from the Under 2-Litre Nationals where they did get their own show along with visitors from NSW and Victoria.

David Waldon on the left was equipped with a former Group C Gemini powered by a Nissan SR20, and next to him is Danny Meneguzzo in the modified 'spare' spaceframe from Simon Harrex's Commodore Sports Sedan days draped in an E30 BMW silhouette and fitted with a mid-mounted Nissan SR20 engine.

The other two in the lineup were Toyota-powered and built new for the series. Bob Grant came to the grid in his yellow Ford Es**rt spaceframe with a 3S-GE 2-Litre, a step up from his previous floor pan Es**rt with Pinto engine, while 4th spot is a young Trent Young from Northern Rivers in a Toyota Levin spaceframe powered by a hybrid merger of a 1.8 Litre engine block with a 20 valve 4A-GE cylinder head. Meneguzzo and Young had both also stepped up from more basic cars, the former having sold his tin bodied Es**rt to Grant in prior years, and the later having started in a Mk 1 Es**rt.

Over only a few seasons many of the 2-Litre front runners moved into outright contender Sports Sedans, while new drivers came into the sport via the U2L cars, seeing 7-10 cars of each turning up at various rounds and together producing solid grids. If you're interested in Sports Sedans racing but the big budget cars are out of reach, get in touch with us about plans for entry-level Sports Sedans and see if it will be a good fit for you.

Seth was back for Round 2 at Morgan Park recently, but was aboard a different HQ Holden. This one freshly wrapped over about two thirds of the car and sporting the Number 1 on the door.

He was locked in an intense battle for the lead of the final race when we got to look in on him, entertaining HQ racing once again.

All categories are heading to Warwick again for Round 3, pencil in May 22 to 24 and come out for a look.

QRDA inFOCUS | Angus Baills, driver of the number 17 Spectrum 014 Ford in multiple state and category-based championships in 2026.

This year Angus has backing from Highfields Mechanical, Petronas Syntium and Cool Drive to allow a significantly expanded program and a better shot at the motorsport ladder for emerging talent. In Queensland we will see him in the Spectrum, a Formula Ford that's been acquired partly as a development tool for another competition but also to tackle Queensland's State Racing scene at the same time.

Renowned talent scouts Tim Macrow Racing are joining forces with young Baills for this year's AU4 Championship for Formula 4-spec racing cars, and it's with one eye on that competition that leads to Angus stepping up from local Series X3 Excel racing into the Formula Ford world. If you can drive a Formula Ford to the front, you can drive anything after all. After 2 years of Excel racing he quickly became a front runner, placing 3rd in the 2025 championship and earning enough praise to be handed the keys to a MARC Mustang for a test day, a car very comparable but even faster than current generation Australian Supercars Championship cars. Excels also provided the opportunity for him to gain valuable seat time at Bathurst, a circuit which is public road most of the year and very hard to access for competitive running.

When it comes to the Formula Ford transition it's definitely not like the Excel, there's a lot has been learned already but there's an awful lot more left to learn, but he's loving the challenge. Showing that motorsport is a great educator for life outside of the car, Angus has come out of his shell and shaken off any shyness, now happily presenting himself and his sponsors across social media and in person like he's been doing it his whole life. That's only going to stand him in good stead as the pressures of each higher level series present themselves in years to come ~ and we're looking forward to cheering him along on that journey.

For the immediate future the AU4 campaign will see him racing interstate in that wings and slicks category, while locally we will see him in action at the remaining rounds of the QCRSC competing for Formula Ford Australia's local Queensland Championship. Good luck Angus Baills with the road ahead.

Say hello to Jordan Spiteri, coming to stir up our other Series X3 members 😁

How good does the Rupert's Bar and Grill number triple 7 look?

We'll catch up with Jordan in more detail at future rounds, there's 4 more left for Series X3 spread equally between Morgan Park Raceway and Queensland Raceway.

Lochlan has joined us this year and has also moved from Formula Vee to a National-Spec Formula Ford.

Last weekend was his first event in the car, after an engine freshen up kept him from Round 1.

Round 2 presented a lot of challenges, but also a lot of learning from a lot of track time. Qualifying there was a bit of a gap to leader Angus Baills, but very quickly once racing was underway lap times became close.

Looking forward to what this kid can do in coming events as he and team make more progress.

The round was also the debut for a fresh livery for LR Racing, what do you think of the number 4 Spectrum's new look?

Bringing more blue! Welcome aboard Matt Dicinoski and Yamuna Sternbeck in their red Van Diemen and purple Spectrum Formula Ford 1600s. We get to support some drivers who support us, but who also get to hit the track this weekend in some of the coolest race cars.

We've got George's BMW based on the factory body and fitted with a matching howling BMW inline 6.

Then there's Coxy's spaceframe, Dodge V8 front-mid mounted and cloaked in that unmistakable Saab body.

Simon Bedford is back in his Dallara fresh from a trip to Sydney Motorsport Park; you want carbon fibre... it's got it!

Rounding out our quartet, Aiden Schweikert put his Van Diemen on pole position for Formula Ford 1600. The starts have proven tricky, resulting in a couple of charge backs on Saturday.

Good morning race fans, let's get the cheer squad up and firing for our crew at Morgan Park Raceway this weekend.

We've had some new members apply as well, missing from the graphic but we'll get some info up for them as we go. The Join form has an issue at the 'are you a robot' question, so only the desktop Join button is available, but you can DM the page if you want to join from the track this weekend and Tony Chapman will come and find you to sort it out.
