SELF-TALK! ​ How we speak to ourselves is so important. ​ It is so easy (and really common) to start giving ourselves a really hard time when we are depressed, anxious, stressed or overwhelmed. ​ We feel we are not good enough, and our internal dialogue can get really mean. ​ I know I have certainly said things to myself that I would never say to another human being. ​ Ever. ​ And did you know our brain, much like us as human beings likes to be right? ​ So when we keep telling ourselves something negative, our brain will go in search of things to back this thought up. ​ We start to only see the problems and how things are going wrong, and lose sight of the positives. ​ ​

What we want to start doing is creating positive statements, and repeat them daily, even if we don’t believe them to start with. ​ Leave it to your brain! ​ It will start looking for the evidence to support your new thought, and in time it becomes your reality.​

What I would like you to do today is write down 3 things you like about yourself, or things you are good at, or even things you aspire to. ​ Write them down with pen and paper/post-its, and then say them out loud every morning with conviction, purpose and a smile on your face. ​ ​

I like this! It can be really helpful to consider what our feelings are trying to tell us, and then to act accordingly, rather than either trying to push through, or suppress the feeling. The more we can learn to respond to feelings and emotions, rather than react, the easier it is to deal with them and move on. Being able to do so is great for our health and well-being too. If you’ve tried and failed time and time again to overcome depression and overwhelm, get your energy back, and to STAY on track… you may be feeling a bit frustrated to say the least.

I totally get it. It’s a really scary, raw, vulnerable position to be in…

You just want to prove to the world (and yourself) that you can succeed.

You’re ready to go all in…

BANANA PANCAKE RECIPE! I don’t usually share recipes – it’s just not my thing. But this is super easy and ticks the box of protein for breakfast, with the added benefit of some fruit 😊 I tried it for Miss 11 and it got a big tick of approval. I actually only used one egg for her and it worked well. I topped hers with blueberries, but it was nice plain too (I tried a corner). The pancakes actually come out like thicker breakfast pancakes, rather than the crepe shown here – but it was the best pic I could find! Who is going to try these? Let us know in the comments. Bonus points for a picture of the pancake you cook.

That feeling of exhaustion, out of control emotions and sitting on the couch feeling bad because you feel you should be doing something… even though you wish it wasn’t bothering you any more… it still is.
