Last week, we basked in the glow of ! 🌍 From our very first moments, communication flows through us. While early babbles may lack coherence, we gradually refine our expression with language and gestures as we grow.

Have an inkling that your little one isn't communicating and babbling in an age-appropriate way? We're proud to be a delivery partner of the Inklings Program, a ground-breaking initiative in WA which supports babies aged 6-18 months who are showing early differences in their social interaction and communication development.

Inklings is making a difference for families across Australia, including those we support here at Connect. We’re proud to partner with Inklings and The Kids Research Institute Australia to help families build stronger connections from the very beginning.

Hey Simone πŸ‘‹! Have you met our new Practice Manager?

Originally from Wagga Wagga in New South Wales, Simone moved to Perth with her husband and three kids in 2012 before moving to Karratha at the start 2022.

Simone has experience in a variety of roles which led her to the medical industry. She enjoys learning about and relating to families with children who need additional support as Simone has two children that have required specialised support such as speech pathology in the past.

In her spare time you can find Simone spending time with her family, having movie nights with her kids and watching them participate in local sporting events.

Thanks for being a valued member of our team, Simone! πŸ’™

Charlie returns with your daily dose of trivia!

Did you know that Play-Doh and similar modeling materials are excellent tools in occupational therapy? They enhance fine motor skills, boost hand strength, and aid tactile sensory processing, particularly for kids.

It's also a fun way to encourage engagement through play! 🎨

Sarah returns with your daily OT Week fun fact! ✍️

Pencil grips are more than just comfy accessories, they serve as essential tools in occupational therapy. They encourage a better grip, decrease hand fatigue, and enhance control, which is crucial for children mastering the art of writing.

Welcome back to OT Week! πŸ™Œ Let's talk pencil holding ✏️.

It's a common misconception that there's only one 'right' way to hold a pencil. While the dynamic tripod grasp is often seen as ideal, many kids find their own effective grips that support clear and comfortable writing. OTs prioritize functionality, so if a grip works well there may be no need for change!
