Online abuse should never be “just part of the job.” 💻

For many women, the threat of online abuse impacts career choices, growth opportunities, mental health, and sense of safety.

According to the eSafety Commissioner 'Women In the Spotlight' Report, 1 in 3 women have experienced online abuse in a work context, and 1 in 4 have felt unable to pursue roles that require a public or online presence because of it. This is not okay.

This isn’t just a digital issue, it’s a workplace safety issue.

During the 16 Days of Activism, we’re calling for stronger action from employers and online platforms to prevent abuse, support victim-survivors, and ensure women aren’t pushed out of any public forum.

If you’re experiencing online abuse at work, you’re not alone. Support is available:

Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities 🧡

An important reminder that gender-based violence doesn’t impact all women equally.
Women and gender-diverse people with disability face higher rates of violence, discrimination, and exclusion, and too often their stories go unheard.

During the 16 Days of Activism, but also every other day let’s advocate to:
🔸 Amplify the voices of women with disability
🔸 Support disability-inclusive, rights-based responses to violence
🔸 Challenge the systems that make access, safety and justice harder to reach

Violence against women with disability is not inevitable — it’s preventable, and it’s on all of us.

Digital abuse can feel overwhelming but if it happens to you, you have options, and you’re not alone. 🧡

During the 16 Days of Activism, we’re focusing on what you can do if someone uses technology to harass or harm you.

Here are the key steps to protect yourself and get support:

✅Block and report
Most platforms have tools to cut off contact and file a report. If you’re unsure how, you’re not the only one these are some of the most searched questions online.

✅ Stop the spread
If your private images have been shared without consent, you can request they be removed through trusted tools like Take It Down and the eSafety Commissioner’s image-based abuse portal.

✅Save evidence
Screenshots, timestamps, URLs to keep a record. If you choose to report, this information matters.

✅Tell someone you trust
Don’t sit with it alone. A friend, colleague, or support service can help you figure out the next steps safely.

✅Secure your accounts
Turn on two-factor authentication, tighten privacy settings, and check your devices for spyware or tracking apps.

✅Seek help
There are people trained to support you and you deserve to feel safe.

Key Australian supports:
❗️Always call Triple Zero (000) if you or someone else is in immediate danger.

Digital abuse is real-world abuse.
Reaching out is a strength not an overreaction.

26/11/2025

Misinformation is a real problem in women’s health, and it’s putting women at risk.

Because women’s health has been historically under-researched and underfunded, gaps in knowledge are often filled with misinformation, myths and inaccuracies.

And it’s not just incorrect – it can be dangerous too. Real harm can happen when we rely on advice from unreliable or unqualified sources.

When looking for health information, always refer to reputable sources – ones that are evidence-based, expert-backed and trustworthy.

When it comes to your health, don’t compromise on truth. You deserve the right facts.

There's No Excuse for Digital Abuse 🧡

During the 16 Days of Activism, we’re reminding our community that gender-based violence also happens online, and knowing the early signs can help you protect yourself and others.

How to spot digital abuse:
• Someone constantly messaging, tracking your location, or demanding access to your phone or passwords
• Threats, intimidation, or attempts to isolate you from friends or support online
• Sharing (or threatening to share) private images without consent
• Monitoring your accounts, deleting messages, or controlling your internet access
• Fake profiles, impersonation, or sudden posting of your private information
• AI-generated sexual content using your images or likeness

These behaviours are not “drama” or “misunderstandings.”
They’re abuse and you don’t need to deal with it alone.

If you need help or advice:
🧡1800RESPECT (1800 737 732) – 24/7 counselling, support and safety planning
🧡eSafety Commissioner: www.esafety.gov.au - Report image-based abuse, cyberstalking, online threats, and get practical steps to regain control.

🧡Men’s Referral Service – 1300 766 491 – For men who use violence or want to change their behaviour

Today marks the beginning of The 16 Days Against Gender-Based Violence 2025 🔥🔥

This years theme is “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls”
Digital abuse is rising fast, the UN states that 16–58% of women globally have faced online violence, and abuse. Digital tools are increasingly being used to stalk, harass, and abuse women and girls.

Types of online abuse looks like:
❌Image-based abuse/ non-consensual sharing of intimate images – often called revenge p**n or leaked nudes.
❌Cyberbullying, trolling, and online threats.
❌Online harassment and sexual harassment.
❌AI-generated deepfakes such as sexually explicit images, deepfake p**nography, and digitally manipulated images, videos or audio.
❌Hate speech and disinformation on social media platforms.
❌Doxxing – publishing private information.
❌Online stalking or surveillance/tracking to monitor someone’s activities.
❌Online grooming and sexual exploitation.
❌Catfishing and impersonation.
❌Misogynistic networks – e.g. manosphere, incel forums.

This harm doesn’t stay online. It affects mental health, careers, relationships and can escalate to real-world violence.
Across the next 16 days, we’ll share practical ways to take action.
Every woman and girl deserves safety, both on and offline.

We had a lovely visit from our sisters at Central West Women's Health Centre earlier this month. Always wonderful to get to know other incredible women in the sector. Hopefully we can organise a visit in the not too distant future! 💜

On our road trip to the NSW Business Awards, we made a special stop to visit our neighbours in the mountains and sisters in solidarity — the Blue Mountains Women’s Health & Resource Centre (BMWHRC). 💜

We were so impressed by the warmth and homely charm of their service, and deeply admire their strong advocacy and activism for women’s health and safety. It’s always inspiring to connect with like-minded people who creating real change in their communities.

Thanks Blue Mountains Women's Health & Resource Centre!
