Movement is a big part of how we support kids to build confidence, strength and coordination, and Taylah is right there beside them, modelling every skill and making it fun. Using the gym in partnership with Delta helps turn therapy into play, giving kids a pathway to practise balance, motor skills and body awareness in a space they genuinely enjoy. đź’š

Transitions to school can feel like a big step, especially when so much in a child’s day begins to change. Our Burleigh Heads OT, Taylah, shares a few reasons why this shift can feel tricky for little learners.

New routines, new environments, new friendships and new expectations all take time to understand. There is also lots of learning, and for many children, being away from family can feel like a big adjustment.

If this sounds like something your child has been finding challenging, our OTs may be a good fit for your family. You can reach out via the link in our bio and we will be in touch to talk through what support might help. đź’š

Gloria, our Burleigh Heads Speech Pathologist and team lead, points out five encouraging praises that help children feel confident in their own effort, creativity and problem-solving. These gentle phrases support kids in building trust in themselves and their abilities:
đź’š I love how you kept trying, even though it felt tricky
đź’š You listened to what your body needed
đź’š That was a really creative idea
💚 I’m proud of you
đź’š That was a good try

Small shifts in language can create big moments of progress. If this sounds like something your child has been experiencing, our team may be a good fit for your family. You can reach out via the link in our bio and we’ll be in touch to chat through next steps.

Sarah recently joined our Burleigh Heads team, bringing almost six years of experience as an Occupational Therapist. Originally from Germany, she completed her Bachelor degree in 2020 after studying in both Germany and the Netherlands, and has since worked full time in paediatrics before moving to Australia in 2022. She settled on the Gold Coast earlier this year and we’re so grateful to have her with us.

In sessions, Sarah often uses TheraPutty and movement-based activities to support children’s regulation, strength and engagement. She loves creating sessions that feel playful and purposeful, meeting each child exactly where they’re at.

Before becoming an OT, Sarah spent time in Australia as an au pair, caring for three young boys. Supporting one of them, who was diagnosed with Autism, helped spark her interest in OT and confirmed her passion for working with children.

We’re so excited to have her on the team 💚

Get to know Imogene đź’š

Imogene is the newest face at our North Lakes clinic, joining the team as a Senior Occupational Therapist with nearly a decade of experience supporting children and their families. Having worked across Queensland and interstate, she brings a warm, thoughtful and child-centred approach to every session.
Her therapy style is playful and engaging, often using bubbles as her go-to tool, while always adapting activities to suit each child’s strengths, interests and needs.

When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll find her with a chai latte in hand and a smile that instantly puts families at ease. We’re so excited to welcome her to the North Lakes team 💚

When your little clients remember your name after one session, you can’t help but strut a little. 💚

It’s those early moments of connection that mean so much, seeing kids feel comfortable, curious and excited to come back again.

Our team has always loved connecting, so we’ve started whole-team meetings every fortnight to bring everyone together beyond our local clinics. 💚

It’s been such a great space to share ideas, learn together and dive deeper into how we do things. One of our recent meetings was all about giving our supervision structure a glow up to help everyone feel more aligned with their learning goals.

Last fortnight, we had OT Laura McNab from Fleur OT join us to share an internal PD on “From Co-Regulation to Independence: A Neuro-Developmental Approach”
On the schedule for this week: following up on our learnings from this professional development, so we can really make sure we have taken them on board, and continually improve how we show up for our families!

What a divine time we had celebrating our Christmas party together! Team Kedron and Team North Lakes loaded into the Delta Gymnastics bus, with our trusty bus driver Joe. Before we knew it, we had arrived at Burleigh Heads and were ready for fun. Gloria lead us through a fun Christmas craft before we headed off once again to the Burleigh Pavilion for a lovely long lunch. The weather was good to us, the food and drinks were yummy and the company couldn’t be beat. We finished our day with lots of presents under the tree and even more laughs.

We are lucky to have such a fabulous team, and had a brilliant time celebrating with each of them.

Get to know Bethany đź’š

Bethany recently joined our Burleigh Heads team, bringing her warmth and expertise as a Speech Pathologist. After completing her Master’s degree in Speech Pathology in 2021, she has spent the past four years working in paediatrics across both clinic and community settings. Her key areas of interest include speech sounds, early language and stuttering, helping children build confidence in their communication every step of the way.

In sessions, Bethany loves incorporating bubbles, musical instruments and cause-and-effect toys to make therapy engaging and fun for every child. And when she’s not in the clinic, you’ll most likely find her with a chai latte in hand (never coffee).

We’re so excited to have her on the team 💚

POV: when you spend your day at kid-level 🪑

From floor time to tiny chairs, our team knows that paediatric therapy often comes with its own kind of workout. Luckily, our standing desks are never far away. Bethany from our Burleigh Heads team keeping it real (and slightly cramped).

Crazy to see what comes off the mats after a session with the kids. Sarah from our Burleigh Heads team was wiping down after a big morning and found a little message left behind… progress 💚

19/11/2025

What a gift Sarah has been to our team over the last 3 and a quarter years. Kind, thoughtful, funny, smart, high in integrity. The families who have worked with her have been so lucky. Our team members have been too. She always encouraged each of us to look from a new perspective and showed up ready to do her best.

Thank you Sarah, for this chapter.
We are cheering you on for your next chapter and will always consider you a Progress Pathways alumnus, and an important part of our journey.

All our love to you. ❤️
