Thiess and their suppliers raised cancer awareness to new heights at Lake Vermont Thiess’. Collaborating with key suppliers Aury Australia, Elastomers Australia, Freo Group, and client Jellinbah Resources, the massive CHPP screen and new centrifuge was painted blue and pink, then installed in the wash plant on 15 February. The unmistakable colours stood to remind staff and visitors of the importance of breast and prostate cancer awareness and personal prevention action.
On the day, employees and invited guests from the Association and breast cancer nurses from Emerald witnessed the screens being lifted and installed, enjoyed a bbq and took the opportunity to meet and talk with the team and guests.
Thiess Lake Vermont Project Manager Adam Schloss said this was a great collaborative community effort. A number of site suppliers have donated generously to support the important work of the Breast and Prostate Cancer Association Qld Inc. that includes funding for specialist nurses, further professional education, emergency patient assistance, establishing committees and community education, supporting cancer care nurses and investing in research.

St Luke’s held a Ladies Afternoon Tea last year raising an impressive $13K! Guest speaker for the day was Liz Lush from the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia who drew on her own experiences with chronic pain and addressed a sensitive topic with grace and humour, dispelling many of the misconceptions surrounding pelvic pain in her quest to destigmatize this condition.

The afternoon showcased some incredible talent from hosts of the individual tables as they created some memorable designs. Other highlights included raffles, a fashion parade with staff and students gracing the runway, and a photo booth where guests had the opportunity to capture the fun of the day. This event was a wonderful display of connection and community.

Brookfield is a semi-rural suburb west of Brisbane - home to many country (and country-at-heart) families who are incredibly blessed to live on acreage just 20km from the Brisbane CBD. This year the Brookfield Long Lunch was proud to support BPCAQ. BPCAQ resonated with the Brookfield Long Lunch, not just because of our association with Gina Fairfax and Dinie McConnel, but also because so many of us have been personally affected or know someone who has or has had either breast or prostate cancer, and we recognise the challenges faced by people and families with cancer in rural and regional Australia.

They donated 10% of the event profits to BPCAQ - $7,500. Thank you Brookfield, what a great effort!!
