๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ Closing the Gap Day reminds us that real change happens when Aboriginal community controlled organisations lead โ€” and when governments and partners walk alongside community with respect, accountability and shared purpose.

At Durri Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service (ACMS), Closing the Gap is lived every day across Dunghutti and Gumbaynggirr Country ๐ŸŒฟ, supporting our communities in Kempsey, Nambucca Heads and surrounding areas. Our work is guided by community voice, cultural authority and communityโ€‘led decision making.

๐Ÿค We work in genuine partnership with Mid North Coast Local Health District, Aboriginal organisation's and local service providers to deliver culturally safe, coordinated care that strengthens health, social and emotional wellbeing, and longโ€‘term community outcomes.

At Durri ACMS, we remain committed to:

โœ… strengthening community leadership
โœ… working in genuine partnership
โœ… delivering outcomes that reflect community priorities
โœจ Because the best outcomes happen when community is at the centre.

Over the past three days, the Durri ACMS Board has come together for intensive training and workshops focused on one clear purpose โ€” strengthening our governance, sharpening our engagement and direction, and improving outcomes for the communities across the Durri footprint.

This has been an important opportunity for the Board to reset, reflect, plan, learn, and work collectively on the future of our organisation and the future we want to help create for our people.
Our commitment is strong. We are focused on building a healthier, stronger, and more sustainable future for our communities through good governance, clear leadership, cultural integrity, and community-centred decision making.

The future direction of Durri ACMS is grounded in accountability, self-determination, and a shared vision for better health and wellbeing outcomes for our people.
It was great to have Jill Wong (Chief Executive - Mid North Coast Local Health District), Robyn Martin (Aboriginal Health & Primary Partnerships - Mid North Coast Local Health District) and Bridget Feeney (Director of the Chief Executives Office) come along and discuss our partnership and future oppurtunities.

We know the work ahead is important, and we remain committed to making decisions that are guided by community need, cultural responsibility, and long-term impact.
We thank everyone who continues to support the work of Durri ACMS. Our Board remains dedicated to leading with purpose, listening with respect, and working hard to ensure our organisation continues to grow and deliver for our communities.

Together, we move forward with strength, clarity, and commitment.

๐ŸŽ‰ Celebrating Leadership and Achievement! ๐ŸŽ‰

A huge congratulations to Stuart Cohen (HR Manager) and Paul Morris (CEO) on successfully completing the National Health Executive Leaders' Program, facilitated by National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO).

This is an incredible milestone that reflects their dedication, hard work, and commitment to strengthening leadership at Durri ACMS and within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health sector.

Their participation in this program not only builds their own leadership capability but also contributes to stronger, more culturally grounded health outcomes for our communities.

Well done, Stuart and Paul โ€” your achievements inspire us all, and we canโ€™t wait to see the positive impact your leadership will continue to make.๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒŸ

Durri ACMS Elders are proud to be heading to the 2026 Elders Olympics in Yamba from 11โ€“13 March, held on Yagel Country. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

This deadly event brings together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders to celebrate culture, community, health and friendly competition.
In the lead up to the games, weโ€™ve been sharing Elders Profiles featuring photos of our amazing participants, along with their mob, what theyโ€™re most excited about, and how they practise self-care in their everyday lives.

Our Elders have spoken about looking forward to reconnecting with community, meeting new people, having a good laugh, and proudly representing Durri ACMS.

Many are excited to stay active, challenge themselves, and show that strength, resilience and culture continue to thrive at every age.
The Elders Olympics is more than just sport โ€” itโ€™s a celebration of culture, wellbeing and togetherness.

We are so proud of our Elders and canโ€™t wait to see them shine in Yamba. ๐ŸŒŸ

What an incredible way to wrap up the Dunghutti Galbaans Cultural Healing Camp

Three powerful days of connection, culture and healing have come to a beautiful close. Yesterday was filled with meaningful health workshops focused on healthy eating, exercise and meditation, along with traditional yoga sessions that nurtured both body and spirit.

Our Galbaans also had the opportunity to take part in a special cultural photo shoot โ€” capturing strength, pride and sisterhood. ๐Ÿ“ธ

We finished the evening gathered together for Koorieoke and dip & paint with the amazing Freeda from Dunghutti Creations โ€” so much laughter, creativity and joy shared by all.

Thank you to every woman who attended, shared her story, and walked alongside each other over these three days. The healing, the yarns and the connections made will continue long after camp has finished.

So proud of our Galbaans and the strength within our community ๐Ÿ’›
