Guess who’s back?!

Our mischievous little friends, Elliott, Lionel and Frank have officially landed at the hospital for the festive season!

This year, they traveled in style—taking Qantas Airlines for a first-class adventure and even made a cheeky safari stopover on the way. Talk about living the high life!

Keep your eyes peeled because they have plenty of surprises in store for us all. Where will we spot them next? 🤔

Glenarm.

Last Friday we hosted the inaugural Spring Garden Party - and what a wonderful day it was!

The weather was perfect & many family and staff members attended.

The plant, cake & craft stalls were popular and the BBQ lunch was perfectly cooked by Brian & Meiha!

Thankyou to everyone who donated items & assisted on the day - we greatly appreciate your support.

Courtney & her little helper, George, drew the raffle - winners being Lana and Bessie.

We hope this will become on annual event.

Each of us can play a role in creating a society that is safe and equal for
women.

By challenging harmful comments in your workplace, sporting club,
friendship group and community, you are demonstrating that disrespect
is not ok at any level – helping to change the culture that enables
violence against women. “Calling in” isn’t about shaming someone for
what they’ve said, but about building empathy for others.

Join the 16 Days of Activism and help build communities where women
are safe and equal. It all starts with respect.

Everyone deserves to be safe in their homes and on the streets.
We all deserve a world where we don’t feel like we need to look over our
shoulder walking home at night.

But harmful ideas – like the belief that men are ‘owed’ s*x, or that they
should use violence to get respect – drive violence against women.
All of us can help change these harmful ideas to make our communities
safe.

You can have an enormous impact on someone’s journey to safety. If
someone you know is experiencing violence, listen without judgement
and believe what they tell you.

It’s important not to say things like “so why do you stay?” or “but what
did you do?” as these questions place the blame on the person who’s
experienced violence.

Instead, validate their experiences and let them know you’re there to
support them.

You can give them the contact details of a specialist family violence
support service. Safe Steps is Victoria’s 24/7 family violence phone line
that can be reached on 1800 015 188. 1800 RESPECT is the national
domestic, family and s*xual violence phone line that can be reached on
1800 737 732.

Whether you’re in a long-term relationship, dating someone new or
chatting to someone online – it’s important to get enthusiastic consent.

Consent is ongoing and shared – you partner can withdraw consent at
any time. If they seem uncomfortable or hesitant, it means you need to
check in.

Kerang District Health now offer free pads and tampons to make period products more readily available.

This important initiative has been made possible via a Victorian Government initiative. Vending machines are being installed in a wide range of public venues across metro and regional Victoria.

KDH has two Vending machines – one for members of our community accessing the health service. The machine is located in the female toilets adjacent to the Allied Health area in the main building.

The other vending machine is for KDH staff and located in a staff only access toilet.

You can also find vending machines in many public locations in Kerang and in other regional towns and cities.

We are united in our belief that no-one should have to go without period products.

WD Thomas Activity Centre

The WD Thomas Activity Centre has enjoyed a wonderfully busy and exciting week!

We kicked things off with our very first Mystery Progressive Lunch, which certainly kept everyone guessing. The surprise stop for pizza was a huge hit, with plenty of smiles (and full bellies!) all around.

Entertainment was in full swing as we welcomed Stuart and Doreen, who put on an enjoyable performance for our group. We also held our monthly BBQ, followed by a special guest appearance from Trevor, whose performance after lunch was warmly received.

Our Chinese lunch outing in Kerang proved popular once again, with lots of laughter and great company.

Back at the centre, we’ve had a wide range of activities on offer, and the Colour-In Station has become a standout favourite among attendees—it's wonderful to see so many enjoying it.

Another fantastic week filled with fun, friendship, and activities for all!
