Today we recognise and celebrate the incredible women who support our Brigade.

At Kersbrook CFS, weโ€™re proud to have Shae, our only active female firefighter. Shae is a valued member of our brigade and someone we greatly appreciate for the energy, dedication, skill, and commitment she brings to the team. Recently becoming our training coordinator, playing a crucial part in supporting our brigade.

Firefighting isn't just for the boys, and weโ€™d love to welcome more women to step forward and join the brigade. Whether itโ€™s on the fireground or supporting behind the scenes, there is a place for everyone in the CFS.

Weโ€™d also like to recognise the amazing women who support our volunteers at home. The partners, families, and friends who stand behind our firefighters when the pager goes off. Your support means more than you know.

Happy International Womenโ€™s Day to all the incredible women who partake in our brigade and support us day to day. ๐Ÿš’๐ŸŒธ

Our brigade member completed a second night shift overnight at the Deep Creek fire. Crews continued mopping-up and strengthened containment lines, working with rakehoes and knapsacks due to the challenging terrain.

After a week of sustained firefighting efforts, with multiple shifts completed by Kersbrook CFS alongside other firefighting resources from across Australia, the Deep Creek fire has now been declared contained. ๐Ÿš’

This incident is a timely reminder that the risk of bushfire remains ever-present as we continue through the fire season, and the importance of staying prepared and vigilant. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

To all brigade members who have put in long hours and multiple shifts: once again, youโ€™ve done our brigade and our community proud. Outstanding work! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

One of our brigade members is currently deployed to the Deep Creek Fire, which continues to burn in areas that are inaccessible to fire crews, completing a night shift last night

Crews are continuing backburning and mop-up operations, strengthening containment lines to reduce the risk of further spread. Tonight will mark a second nightshift of operations, working alongside other local brigades from our area.

Stay safe!

Yesterday afternoon we deployed crews on our 34 appliance, along with the Group Bulk Water Carrier as part of a strike team with Paracombe CFS, Gumeracha Country Fire Service, Cudlee Creek & Forreston appliances, to assist with the fire at Deep Creek.

Our crews worked to strengthen and secure control lines. These are the breaks that help stop the fire from spreading further to ensure sections of the burn area remained contained. They also supported operations during a planned backburn, providing on-ground coverage to quickly respond if any flare-ups or breakouts occurred overnight.

After a long and demanding shift, crews returned home after midnight, helping keep the community safe and earning some well deserved rest ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿš’

Last night we responded to a tree down, blocking the road and hung up in another tree.

The local residents were not impressed with our arrival and made their feelings known, repeatedly and at close range ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ

A few of our crew even copped the ultimate bee review: 1 star, would sting again.

With Tea Tree Gully SES assisting, the tree was cut up and the road cleared.
