Key Benefits of Remedial Massage

An immediate benefit of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm, this occurs because therapeutic touch prompts the release of endorphins, the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing. Some of the physical benefits of massage include:
• Reduced muscle tension, tones and relaxing muscles
• Improved circulation and stimulation of the lymphatic system
• Reduction of stress hormones
• Increase joint mobility and flexibility
• Improved skin tone
• Speed up the body’s own repair mechanisms
• Gives a sense of overall Wellbeing
• A calming effect on the peripheral nervous system which eases pain and discomfort in the body
• Relaxation that allows our minds and bodies to recharge and rejuvenate

It is important to drink plenty of water after the massage to flush metabolic waste from the tissues. Therapeutic Touch
Therapeutic touch has shown to increase attention span, memory recall, laughter, relaxation, vitality and social interaction, posture, body awareness and skin colour. Improves blood circulation, relieves pain, increase ROM, and helps maintain and improve overall health and retain certain physical functions. There is a reduction in anxiety and provides comfort. Massage means interaction; there is a physical and emotional effect on your client with a massage. The lack of touch can lead to psychiatric or physical problems, it can lead to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and lethargy, lack of caring touch can result in diminishing quality of life. Qualified Massage Techniques

Swedish massage - uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding, petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping, friction (cross fibre) and vibration/shaking. Deep Tissue Focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue, especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas, the strokes are slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain. Trigger Point Therapy involves deactivating trigger points within muscles that may cause local pain or refer pain and other sensations, (such as headaches) in other parts of the body. Manual pressure is applied to these points to relieve myofascial pain. Myofascial Release Therapy - refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia, integument, and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and equilibrioception. Myofascial release usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions or by skin rolling. Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage technique used to gently work and stimulate the lymphatic system, to assist in the reduction of localised swelling. Reflexology - based on the principle that there are reflexes in the hands and feet that relate to every organ, gland, and system of the body. Passive & Active Stretching - stretching techniques used to gradually increase the range of movement. PNF Stretching - Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation stretching is a combination of passive and isometrics contractions to increase range of movement to improve biomechanics. What is Reiki

Reiki is the name for a Japanese healing method that corrects energy imbalances in the body and is applied through the hands. The result is a deeply relaxing experience which is excellent for stress management and self-healing. Reiki is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life-force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, depression, anxiety and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy, increasing our built-in defences. This can manifest itself as confidence and outward harmony in dealing with everyday events. It can also help you gain a positive outlook on life! When we are relaxed, stress-free, we are able to restore our natural ability to heal.

As we approach the end of the year, it’s a beautiful time to pause and reflect on the last twelve months.

It’s natural for our minds to drift toward what didn’t go as planned — the challenges faced or the goals left unmet. But don’t forget to also gather the moments of joy: the times you felt peace, alignment, or a quiet sense that the universe was supporting you.

Take a moment to recognize and appreciate your blessings. What are you truly grateful for this year?

Science shows that practicing gratitude boosts happiness and overall health, reduces stress, and lifts your energy. Gratitude doesn’t just change how you feel — it changes how you experience life.

And for the moments that challenged you, acknowledge the lessons they carried. In life’s ebb and flow, every experience can become a stepping stone for growth. Honour the courage it took to face difficulties and the resilience that emerged from within.

“Focus on what’s working in your life, the positive stuff. For what you focus on and think about most is what manifests in your life.” — Dr Christiane Northrup

As we step into a new year, ask yourself:
✨ What wisdom will you carry forward?
✨ What rituals will you deepen or amplify?
✨ What new habits will you explore to nurture your mind, body, and soul?

Your journey is ongoing, and this next chapter is yours to write — with intention, mindfulness, self-love, and a renewed commitment to your well-being.

I’d love to hear your reflections and intentions for the year ahead. Let’s inspire one another as we continue this journey of health, happiness, and growth

18/12/2025

As we gather together this holiday season, it’s important to reflect not only on the joyous celebrations but also on the deeper spiritual meaning of Christmas. Beyond the gifts, the lights, and the feasts, Christmas is a time for quiet reflection, a moment to remember the incredible significance of Christ’s birth and what it symbolizes within us.

The Christmas tree, for example, has roots that stretch back to pre-Christian traditions. In the cold northern winters, Europeans brought live trees into their homes as a reminder that crops would grow again in spring. The seventh-century monk St. Boniface is believed to have used the triangular shape of the tree to represent the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Christmas also aligns with ancient winter solstice celebrations, such as Saturnalia in Rome and Yule among Germanic tribes. For centuries, people marked the longest night of the year with rituals symbolizing hope and rebirth, feasting, gift-giving, and rituals to honor the return of the sun. These traditions—rooted in light overcoming darkness—mirror the arrival of the Light of the World, Jesus Christ in the Christian faith.

The act of gift-giving, which is now a major part of Christmas, traces back to these festivals. Romans exchanged small tokens for good luck, while Norse mythology included Odin, who would reward children with gifts in their stockings, much like today’s Santa Claus tradition.

The mistletoe, once sacred to the Druids and the Romans, represented peace and reconciliation—values that resonate deeply in the message of Christ’s birth. Jesus came to bring peace, not just amongst humanity, but within each of us.

As we celebrate, let’s remember the most profound gift of all: the birth of ‘Christ’ qualities within us. It’s not about the material decorations or the number of presents we give. As we reflect on the Christian story of Jesus, we’re called to embody that spirit of love, peace, and humility.

When we embrace love, the true joy of Christmas becomes a part of who we are, transforming not only our holidays, but our lives. Merry Christmas, and may this season bring you inner peace and spiritual renewal.

As the weather warms up it’s good time to revisit the importance of hydration.💧

Did you know the human body is made up of around 60% water? We can’t store large amounts of it, so we need to replenish daily. Waiting until you feel thirsty often means you’re already dehydrated.

Common signs of dehydration include fatigue, headaches, constipation, pain, blood sugar imbalance and high blood pressure.

Water is essential for brain function, hormones and menopause. Even mild dehydration can trigger hunger signals and cravings. Women naturally need more water during the second half of their menstrual cycle.

💬 “A simple way to know you’re fully hydrated is if you urinate at least six times in 24 hours.” —

🌿 What’s the best water?
Spring water is considered the gold standard. Naturally filtered by the earth, it contains essential trace minerals. Spring water from remote areas is generally less contaminated.

Tap water, on the other hand, may contain heavy metals, fluoride, chlorine, medications and other unregulated chemicals.

🥥 Simple ways to hydrate better:
• Add a pinch of Celtic salt or fresh lemon, cucumber, strawberries or watermelon to your water
• Enjoy a glass of coconut water for natural electrolytes
• Sip consistently throughout the day rather than chugging

💬 “We specifically need natural water, complete with its native minerals, salts and electrolytes… Another smart way to hydrate is to eat your water.” —

Everyone’s water needs are different and depend on lifestyle, hormones and water quality. Mineral-rich, full-spectrum living water hydrates cells more effectively than unstructured water and supports overall health.

✨ Prioritise hydration. Choose the best water available. Your body depends on it.

We wanted to take a moment to talk about something that’s often misunderstood: last-minute cancellations and no-shows.

We completely understand that life happens and unexpected things come up. Whenever we can, we happily accommodate reschedules and cancellations.

However, cancellations—especially at the last minute—have a real impact on small businesses. As a small team, missed appointments affect our ability to operate smoothly and continue offering the services our clients rely on.

December is our busiest month and our shortest. With holiday closures and reduced days, we work extra hours to fit everyone in before Christmas. So when someone cancels last-minute or doesn’t show up, it creates gaps we often can’t fill and results in lost income at an already challenging time.

We’ll always do our best to be fair, accommodate changes, and fill cancelled spots from our waitlist. But when that’s not possible, our cancellation policy applies:
🌼 48+ hours’ notice: No charge
🌷 Less than 48 hours’ notice: 50% of the treatment fee
🌸 Less than 24 hours’ notice: Full session fee
🌻 No show: Full session fee

Repeated cancellations may require a deposit at the time of booking.

Let’s work together to ensure Wonderful Wombs can continue offering the support and services that mean so much to so many. When possible, please avoid cancelling—and if you need to reschedule, let us know as early as you can.

Thank you so much for your understanding, kindness, and continued support. It truly makes a difference.

The season of “Advent” beings on the 4th Sunday before Christmas Day.

The word Advent means ‘coming’, referring to the birth of Christ. In Australia Advent also occurs during the lead up to the Summer Solstice, which falls between December 21-23.

During this busy time of the year it can be difficult to remain grounded and focused, but reflecting on advent can help us to be in touch with what is sacred for us.

For those who celebrate the holy birth of Christ this can be a reflection of Mary’s journey through pregnancy and preparing to give birth. The story of the birth of Jesus is an archetypal spiritual narrative of goodness, truth and light. The qualities of kindness and compassion that Christ brings to the world is shared among stories across all religions and cultures. They are qualities that we can aspire to.

In some cultures the 4 weeks of advent are a celebration of all the kingdoms of Earth, with each candle representing the mineral, plant and animal kingdoms with the 4th being the realm of man and the light within us.

Christ was an embodiment of light and we can use this time to reflect on the awakening of our own light within. In the southern hemisphere we can work with the natural forces of the Summer Solstice, where the sun reaches its peak, to also bring our own light to fulfilment.

The Summer Solstice is a reminder of the universe’s cyclical nature: from darkness to light, from winter to summer, from rest to growth. It’s a time to reflect on how we can move forward, break free from personal shadows, and step into the fullness of our potential.

During this time of advent and the lead up to the summer solstice we can work with the sun’s vibrant energy to inspire, uplift, and energize; to let go of the old, set fresh intentions, and embrace new goals.

On the longest day of the year, our spirits are awakened, refreshed, and ready to move. It’s a time for us to fully embrace the richness of life, to celebrate the light.

As we celebrate the start of Summer we reflect on the four seasons of our cycle and our own inner Summer. Is this your season of Summer?

The Summer phase of your cycle, typically around day 14, is a time of vibrant energy and confidence. As estrogen levels rise, you may feel an increase in anxiety, but this phase also sees a surge in testosterone, which enhances libido, supports muscle growth, boosts memory, and improves cognitive function.

This is a period where you may feel more adventurous, open to taking risks—those small leaps that push you just outside your comfort zone. You may feel confident, beautiful, and full of sociability, making it an ideal time to get things done and connect with others.

But beware: It’s easy to overcommit during this time. You may say “yes” to everything, filling up your schedule and putting others’ needs before your own.

While emotional generosity is wonderful, it’s important to recognize its limits.

As Maisie Hill beautifully puts it:
“The summer season of the year and your cycle is the time to move beyond what you think you should or shouldn’t do, what others expect of you, and even what you expect of yourself. But for many of us, taking risks and building the self-trust to go after what we truly want can be challenging.”

Take advantage of this burst of energy, but don’t forget the importance of self-care. Use this time to journal your experiences and reflect on what you truly desire. You’ll thank yourself in the quieter months of Autumn and Winter when your energy levels naturally dip.

Perinatal Mental Health Week each November shines a light on the emotional wellbeing of expectant and new parents. It’s a dedicated national reminder that support, understanding and early help can make a profound difference during a time of immense change, vulnerability and growth.

No two journeys into parenthood look the same. Pregnancy, birth and the early months of caring for a baby can bring incredible joy as well as unexpected hurdles.

While the physical changes of pregnancy are often talked about, the emotional shifts can be just as significant. Many people experience moments of uncertainty, sadness, grief, or changes in identity and relationships as they prepare to welcome a child.

The transition to becoming a parent can be overwhelming. Around one in five mothers and one in ten fathers experience perinatal anxiety or depression each year in Australia — roughly 100,000 parents navigating challenges that often go unseen.

Partners, families and communities all play a vital role in recognising signs of distress and encouraging conversations that reduce stigma.

It’s important to remember you’re not alone. Wonderful Wombs is here to gently support you through fertility, pregnancy and early parenthood with restorative, nurturing massage therapies designed to help you feel grounded and cared for.

The festive season can be beautiful… but it can also get busy. So busy that we stop exercising, skip nourishing meals, sleep poorly, and slip into that vicious cycle of “too busy to be healthy.” The less we care for ourselves, the worse we feel—and the less connected we become.

So why do so many of us, especially women, keep burning the candle at both ends? Obligations, expectations, and “ledger relationships” (as Dr. Mario Martinez calls them)—the pressure to say yes, buy gifts, attend events, or see people who drain us simply because “it’s Christmas.”

This year, try giving yourself permission to slow down and choose what truly matters.

✨ Cancel or decline unnecessary catchups.

✨ Prioritize your to-do list.

✨ Protect your sleep—consistent bedtimes, screens off, and no late-night sugar, caffeine, or alcohol. Better quality sleep means a clearer mind, better mood, and more energy for the things you love.

✨ Be present. When the hustle takes over, pause. Take a full breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Ground yourself. Whisper “be present” to return to the moment.

✨ Practice self-love. Speak to yourself with the same compassion you offer others. Imagine talking to a precious child—you deserve that gentleness too.

✨ Choose rituals with meaning. Keep the traditions that bring magic to your season and let go of the ones filled with guilt or obligation.

And don’t forget to schedule time for self-care. A nurturing massage can be the perfect way to pause, reconnect, and replenish your body and soul. We’re open right up until the New Year —book your moment of calm today.

Robin Williams once said, “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”

It’s such a powerful reminder — and while kindness should guide us every day, sometimes we all need a little nudge to bring it back into focus.

World Kindness Day, celebrated every year on November 13, is exactly that — a day that crosses borders, cultures, and languages to celebrate the magic of kindness.

Kindness isn’t limited by where we are or what’s happening around us. It’s a universal language that connects us all and makes the world a little brighter.

This year, the focus is on the role of kindness in child development — because nurturing empathy and compassion from an early age helps children grow, flourish, and create a kinder future for everyone.

If you are looking for some ideas on how you can spread some kindness today, here are some ways to infuse your day with kindness, love and compassion:
* Complete acts of Kindness: Help a neighbour, a stranger or share a genuine compliment with a colleague, friend or family.
* Random Acts of Magic: Buy a stranger’s coffee, leave an encouraging note for a friend, or perform any random act of kindness that feels good.
* Share uplifting messages on social media, because kindness is contagious, and your words might just be the spark someone needs.
* Consider volunteering for a local charity or nonprofit that aligns with your passions and values. Your time can be a gift that keeps on giving.
* Donate to a cause that speaks to your heart. Whether it’s aiding humanitarian efforts, supporting education, or boosting healthcare – every drop counts.
* Become a model of kindness to the younger generation.

Remember, kindness can transform the world, one kind act at a time.
