Key Benefits of Remedial Massage

An immediate benefit of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm, this occurs because therapeutic touch prompts the release of endorphins, the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing. Some of the physical benefits of massage include:
• Reduced muscle tension, tones and relaxing muscles
• Improved circulation and stimulation of the lymphatic system
• Reduction of stress hormones
• Increase joint mobility and flexibility
• Improved skin tone
• Speed up the body’s own repair mechanisms
• Gives a sense of overall Wellbeing
• A calming effect on the peripheral nervous system which eases pain and discomfort in the body
• Relaxation that allows our minds and bodies to recharge and rejuvenate

It is important to drink plenty of water after the massage to flush metabolic waste from the tissues. Therapeutic Touch
Therapeutic touch has shown to increase attention span, memory recall, laughter, relaxation, vitality and social interaction, posture, body awareness and skin colour. Improves blood circulation, relieves pain, increase ROM, and helps maintain and improve overall health and retain certain physical functions. There is a reduction in anxiety and provides comfort. Massage means interaction; there is a physical and emotional effect on your client with a massage. The lack of touch can lead to psychiatric or physical problems, it can lead to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and lethargy, lack of caring touch can result in diminishing quality of life. Qualified Massage Techniques

Swedish massage - uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding, petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping, friction (cross fibre) and vibration/shaking. Deep Tissue Focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue, especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas, the strokes are slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain. Trigger Point Therapy involves deactivating trigger points within muscles that may cause local pain or refer pain and other sensations, (such as headaches) in other parts of the body. Manual pressure is applied to these points to relieve myofascial pain. Myofascial Release Therapy - refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia, integument, and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and equilibrioception. Myofascial release usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions or by skin rolling. Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage technique used to gently work and stimulate the lymphatic system, to assist in the reduction of localised swelling. Reflexology - based on the principle that there are reflexes in the hands and feet that relate to every organ, gland, and system of the body. Passive & Active Stretching - stretching techniques used to gradually increase the range of movement. PNF Stretching - Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation stretching is a combination of passive and isometrics contractions to increase range of movement to improve biomechanics. What is Reiki

Reiki is the name for a Japanese healing method that corrects energy imbalances in the body and is applied through the hands. The result is a deeply relaxing experience which is excellent for stress management and self-healing. Reiki is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life-force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, depression, anxiety and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy, increasing our built-in defences. This can manifest itself as confidence and outward harmony in dealing with everyday events. It can also help you gain a positive outlook on life! When we are relaxed, stress-free, we are able to restore our natural ability to heal.

The season of “Advent” beings on the 4th Sunday before Christmas Day.

The word Advent means ‘coming’, referring to the birth of Christ. In Australia Advent also occurs during the lead up to the Summer Solstice, which falls between December 21-23.

During this busy time of the year it can be difficult to remain grounded and focused, but reflecting on advent can help us to be in touch with what is sacred for us.

For those who celebrate the holy birth of Christ this can be a reflection of Mary’s journey through pregnancy and preparing to give birth. The story of the birth of Jesus is an archetypal spiritual narrative of goodness, truth and light. The qualities of kindness and compassion that Christ brings to the world is shared among stories across all religions and cultures. They are qualities that we can aspire to.

In some cultures the 4 weeks of advent are a celebration of all the kingdoms of Earth, with each candle representing the mineral, plant and animal kingdoms with the 4th being the realm of man and the light within us.

Christ was an embodiment of light and we can use this time to reflect on the awakening of our own light within. In the southern hemisphere we can work with the natural forces of the Summer Solstice, where the sun reaches its peak, to also bring our own light to fulfilment.

The Summer Solstice is a reminder of the universe’s cyclical nature: from darkness to light, from winter to summer, from rest to growth. It’s a time to reflect on how we can move forward, break free from personal shadows, and step into the fullness of our potential.

During this time of advent and the lead up to the summer solstice we can work with the sun’s vibrant energy to inspire, uplift, and energize; to let go of the old, set fresh intentions, and embrace new goals.

On the longest day of the year, our spirits are awakened, refreshed, and ready to move. It’s a time for us to fully embrace the richness of life, to celebrate the light.

As we celebrate the start of Summer we reflect on the four seasons of our cycle and our own inner Summer. Is this your season of Summer?

The Summer phase of your cycle, typically around day 14, is a time of vibrant energy and confidence. As estrogen levels rise, you may feel an increase in anxiety, but this phase also sees a surge in testosterone, which enhances libido, supports muscle growth, boosts memory, and improves cognitive function.

This is a period where you may feel more adventurous, open to taking risks—those small leaps that push you just outside your comfort zone. You may feel confident, beautiful, and full of sociability, making it an ideal time to get things done and connect with others.

But beware: It’s easy to overcommit during this time. You may say “yes” to everything, filling up your schedule and putting others’ needs before your own.

While emotional generosity is wonderful, it’s important to recognize its limits.

As Maisie Hill beautifully puts it:
“The summer season of the year and your cycle is the time to move beyond what you think you should or shouldn’t do, what others expect of you, and even what you expect of yourself. But for many of us, taking risks and building the self-trust to go after what we truly want can be challenging.”

Take advantage of this burst of energy, but don’t forget the importance of self-care. Use this time to journal your experiences and reflect on what you truly desire. You’ll thank yourself in the quieter months of Autumn and Winter when your energy levels naturally dip.

Perinatal Mental Health Week each November shines a light on the emotional wellbeing of expectant and new parents. It’s a dedicated national reminder that support, understanding and early help can make a profound difference during a time of immense change, vulnerability and growth.

No two journeys into parenthood look the same. Pregnancy, birth and the early months of caring for a baby can bring incredible joy as well as unexpected hurdles.

While the physical changes of pregnancy are often talked about, the emotional shifts can be just as significant. Many people experience moments of uncertainty, sadness, grief, or changes in identity and relationships as they prepare to welcome a child.

The transition to becoming a parent can be overwhelming. Around one in five mothers and one in ten fathers experience perinatal anxiety or depression each year in Australia — roughly 100,000 parents navigating challenges that often go unseen.

Partners, families and communities all play a vital role in recognising signs of distress and encouraging conversations that reduce stigma.

It’s important to remember you’re not alone. Wonderful Wombs is here to gently support you through fertility, pregnancy and early parenthood with restorative, nurturing massage therapies designed to help you feel grounded and cared for.

The festive season can be beautiful… but it can also get busy. So busy that we stop exercising, skip nourishing meals, sleep poorly, and slip into that vicious cycle of “too busy to be healthy.” The less we care for ourselves, the worse we feel—and the less connected we become.

So why do so many of us, especially women, keep burning the candle at both ends? Obligations, expectations, and “ledger relationships” (as Dr. Mario Martinez calls them)—the pressure to say yes, buy gifts, attend events, or see people who drain us simply because “it’s Christmas.”

This year, try giving yourself permission to slow down and choose what truly matters.

✨ Cancel or decline unnecessary catchups.

✨ Prioritize your to-do list.

✨ Protect your sleep—consistent bedtimes, screens off, and no late-night sugar, caffeine, or alcohol. Better quality sleep means a clearer mind, better mood, and more energy for the things you love.

✨ Be present. When the hustle takes over, pause. Take a full breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Ground yourself. Whisper “be present” to return to the moment.

✨ Practice self-love. Speak to yourself with the same compassion you offer others. Imagine talking to a precious child—you deserve that gentleness too.

✨ Choose rituals with meaning. Keep the traditions that bring magic to your season and let go of the ones filled with guilt or obligation.

And don’t forget to schedule time for self-care. A nurturing massage can be the perfect way to pause, reconnect, and replenish your body and soul. We’re open right up until the New Year —book your moment of calm today.

Robin Williams once said, “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”

It’s such a powerful reminder — and while kindness should guide us every day, sometimes we all need a little nudge to bring it back into focus.

World Kindness Day, celebrated every year on November 13, is exactly that — a day that crosses borders, cultures, and languages to celebrate the magic of kindness.

Kindness isn’t limited by where we are or what’s happening around us. It’s a universal language that connects us all and makes the world a little brighter.

This year, the focus is on the role of kindness in child development — because nurturing empathy and compassion from an early age helps children grow, flourish, and create a kinder future for everyone.

If you are looking for some ideas on how you can spread some kindness today, here are some ways to infuse your day with kindness, love and compassion:
* Complete acts of Kindness: Help a neighbour, a stranger or share a genuine compliment with a colleague, friend or family.
* Random Acts of Magic: Buy a stranger’s coffee, leave an encouraging note for a friend, or perform any random act of kindness that feels good.
* Share uplifting messages on social media, because kindness is contagious, and your words might just be the spark someone needs.
* Consider volunteering for a local charity or nonprofit that aligns with your passions and values. Your time can be a gift that keeps on giving.
* Donate to a cause that speaks to your heart. Whether it’s aiding humanitarian efforts, supporting education, or boosting healthcare – every drop counts.
* Become a model of kindness to the younger generation.

Remember, kindness can transform the world, one kind act at a time.

Let’s talk about the menstrual cycle — do you know the four phases your body moves through each month?

Menstrual Phase
Your cycle begins here, as your body sheds its uterine lining.

A typical bleed lasts 3–7 days, with an average blood loss of 35–50ml. The colour may range from bright red to deep burgundy.

Keep an eye out for:
⚠️ Heavy or very light bleeding
⚠️ Spotting before your period
⚠️ Large clots or unusual colours
⚠️ Painful cramps

It’s natural to want to rest during this time — think of it as your body’s monthly reset. As Lisa Hendrickson-Jack says, “When we release our bleed, we’re releasing what we’ve taken on for the whole month — and letting it go.” ”

Follicular Phase
This phase begins with your period and ends at ovulation. Oestrogen rises, your uterine lining thickens, and your energy, focus, and creativity return.

You may notice your cervical mucus increasing and becoming egg-white in texture near ovulation — a key fertility sign. Your cervix will soften, open and move to a higher position.

The date of ovulation isn’t constant from cycle to cycle so your Follicular phase may also vary.

Tracking your cycle can help you spot when you’re most fertile.

💫 Ovulation Phase
Ovulation is when an egg is released from the o***y and travels down the fallopian tube — a truly miraculous event! The egg lives up to 72 hours. You might feel more confident, social, and radiant during this time.

🌕 Luteal Phase
After ovulation, progesterone rises. Your temperature increases slightly, cervical mucus dries up, and your cervix will sit lower and feel firm and closed.

Your energy begins to turn inward. You might feel more reflective or sensitive — this is your body preparing to release again.

Understanding and tracking your cycle connects you to your body’s rhythm — a window into your reproductive health and a deep source of inner wisdom.

Try journaling or charting your cycle to tune into your womb’s natural flow.

29/10/2025

For too long, menopause has been framed as loss — a time of decline, imbalance, or something to “fix.” But if look back to the stories of old we find a sacred initiation into deeper wisdom, freedom, and truth.

This isn’t an ending. It’s a powerful unfolding. When the noise of cultural conditioning fades, what emerges is a ripening — a time of renewal, creativity, and awakening.

As hormones shift, the body begins to tell the truth we may have silenced for years. What once was tolerable no longer feels aligned. The soul starts to speak more clearly, asking for integrity, authenticity, and a slower, truer way of living.

“Perimenopause is a natural stage of life that is intrinsic to a woman’s emancipation. It’s not something that needs medicating, but a process that we can engage with. It pulls us into the present, stripping away what’s no longer true.”

Menopause invites us to meet ourselves again. It calls up the unfinished threads of our past — body image, purpose, relationships, fears — to bring them to completion.

When we honor this passage with compassion and presence, going deep into the wisdom of our womb, we step into the second half of life with renewed vitality and deeper purpose.

Menopause can be the moment we stop abandoning ourselves and start listening to the voice of the soul.

As National Nutrition Week wraps up, it’s the perfect time to reflect on how what we eat directly impacts how we feel—especially during life’s big transitions like puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause.

⁣As Lisa Hendrickson-Jack says: “Your diet plays an essential role in the health of your cycles… Food is both nutrition and information.”⁣

⁣So, what does that mean in practice? Lisa recommends:⁣
✨ Removing processed foods⁣
🥩 Choosing nutrient-dense, pasture-raised animal products (yes, that includes liver & organ meats!)⁣
🥣 Sipping on bone broth⁣
🥬 Eating the rainbow with plenty of fresh fruits & veggies⁣
🥒 Adding fermented foods & drinks⁣
💧 Staying well hydrated⁣

⁣And most importantly—make it pleasurable. The theme for National Nutrition week in 2025 is “Joy of Food”.

When we love what we eat, meals become more than just fuel: they’re delicious, balanced, and mindful moments that nourish us and bring joy to others. Eating becomes a celebration of togetherness — a chance to connect, laugh, and share with those we cherish.⁣

So ask yourself: what’s one small change you can make today to bring you you joy and nourish your body better?⁣

⁣“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” — Ancient Chinese Proverb⁣

Today, October 10th, we honour World Mental Health Day.

More than a day of awareness, this is an invitation to slow down, soften, and remember: your inner world matters.

In Australia, more than 2 in 5 people will experience a mental health challenge in their lifetime. These aren’t just numbers—they’re stories, hearts, and human journeys.

This year’s theme, “Connect with Your Community,” speaks deeply to the soul. We were never meant to walk this path alone. As women—cyclical, intuitive, and wired for connection—our nervous systems remember the medicine of gathering. Of being witnessed. Of feeling safe.

Research confirms what our ancestors already knew: talking with a familiar, trusted friend can ease the weight we carry. It lowers cortisol, soothes the nervous system, and reminds us we belong.

For those navigating the unseen terrain of fertility, early motherhood, or menopause, community becomes more than support—it becomes sanctuary.

But connection isn’t just external.
It also means coming home to yourself.
✨ To your breath.
✨ To your body.
✨ To your spirit.
✨ To whatever feels sacred to you.

Whether it’s meditation, journaling, prayer, ceremony, or stillness—find what nourishes your inner world.

At Wonderful Wombs, we walk beside you on this path. Our work honours not only your physical body, but your emotional and spiritual wellbeing too. You don’t have to hold it all alone.

Maybe today, that means reaching out to someone who truly sees you. Or maybe it means receiving a healing massage.

Either way—may you feel held.
By your community.
By the Earth.
By the unseen, loving presence within and around you.

“Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.” — Mother Teresa

Today is World Smile Day, celebrated every year on the first Friday of October — a day dedicated to spreading happiness, kindness, and joy through one simple act: smiling.

Created in 1999 by Harvey Ball, the artist behind the iconic smiley face, this day was meant to bring back the authenticity of a smile — something heartfelt, kind, and universally understood. As his creation became commercialized, Harvey wanted to remind the world that a genuine smile can change everything.

Why do smiles matter?
😊 Smiles are contagious — when you smile, others often can’t help but smile back.
😊 Smiling is both spontaneous and intentional — even a conscious smile can lift your mood.
😊 Research shows that smiling can:
✔️ Boost your immune system
✔️ Reduce stress and pain
✔️ Improve your mood
✔️ Strengthen relationships
✔️ Even help you live longer

How can you celebrate ?
✨ Wear your best smile today — and every day
✨ Do a random act of kindness: give a compliment, lend a hand, or simply be present
✨ Share a smile with someone — in person or online
✨ Post a photo or memory that makes you smile
✨ Challenge yourself: How many smiles can you give (and receive) today?

And if you’re not quite feeling it — that’s okay. Sometimes, even a “fake” smile can spark a real shift in how you feel. Try it.

Let’s make the world a little brighter today — one smile at a time. 💛

What is Conception?

Conception is the meeting of two cells — egg and s***m — forming a single spark called the zygote.

It doesn’t happen at just any moment — it happens in a window, delicately timed. The Process Unfolds:

Ovulation: A ripe egg is released, alive for just 12–24 hours.

Fertilisation: If s***m — surviving up to 5 days — finds the egg, one will enter.

Zygote: A new life blueprint begins, dividing, becoming.

Blastocyst: A soft cluster of potential.

Implantation: 5–6 days later, the uterus opens its arms… and if all aligns, the journey of pregnancy begins.

But not every fertilised egg will stay. Nature makes no promises — up to 50% pass unnoticed, released in your next bleed.

Still, every cycle carries wisdom. Because, when we understand our cycles, we return to ourselves.

Your body is not a mystery to be solved — it is a rhythm to be remembered. And in learning this rhythm, we reclaim something sacred: The right to understand the story our bodies tell.

Because to know what happens during conception… is to honour the beauty of creation — and the wisdom within you.
