Strengthening Community Connections in Medicare Urgent Care!

The Dandenong Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (MUCC) recently hosted a community engagement meeting and Urgeht care clinic tour with local community leaders and representatives.

We were pleased to welcome Rob Koch Senior Advisor – Community Engagement, Monash Health, and Julie Raciti -Community Hub Leader, along with valued community representatives.

The session was led by Dr Hamid Fairoos (Clinical Lead) together with Riekie Jooste (Operations Manager), Fariha Khan (Practice Manager), Erin Roger (Nurse Manager), and members of our Urgent Care team.

🩺 Key discussions included:

• How urgent care supports both Medicare and non-Medicare patients
• The critical role of urgent care in refugee health and supporting asylum seekers, including access even without Medicare
• Educating community leaders on how to contact, access, and navigate urgent care services

🤝 The meeting was highly productive and focused on improving awareness, access, and collaboration.

Today, the Bone Bus visited our clinic to provide convenient Bone Density (DEXA) scans for our community.

DANDENONG MEDICARE URGENT CARE CLINIC.

We had the privilege of welcoming the South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network officials and professional team for a comprehensive site visit at the Dandenong Medicare Urgent Care Clinic.

It was an extremely productive and insightful meeting, attended by our Operations Manager, Practice Manager, Nurse Manager, Clinical Lead, UCC doctors, nurses, and frontline admin staff.
These collaborative discussions reinforce our shared commitment to strengthening urgent care access across Melbourne’s South East.

📍 Dandenong UCC continues to play a vital role in reducing the pressure on Dandenong Hospital’s Emergency Department, providing timely care to the community for non-life-threatening urgent presentations.

As demand continues to grow, we are expanding our team with more doctors and nurses to ensure faster access, improved triage pathways, and a streamlined patient experience.
