Thinking of Starting Couch to 5K This Year? Your Feet Need Prep First! ๐
โ
We love seeing New Year fitness goals, but jumping straight into running without preparing your feet is a recipe for injury. Here's what to do BEFORE you lace up:
โ
Get Proper Running Shoes
Not just trainersโactual running shoes fitted to your foot type and gait. This is non-negotiable.
โ
Strengthen Your Feet First
Spend 2 weeks doing daily toe curls, calf raises, and ankle circles. Build that foundation before adding impact.
โ
Start on Softer Surfaces
Grass or tracks are kinder to beginner feet than concrete. Save the pavement for when you've built up strength.
โ
Check Your Old Injuries
Had ankle sprains or foot pain before? Get them assessed now, not 3 weeks into your program when they flare up.
โ
Invest in Good Socks
Moisture-wicking running socks prevent blisters. Trust us, it matters.
Your running journey starts with happy feet. Get them ready, and you'll actually make it to that 5K finish line! ๐ฏ
