SEEKING INTEREST!

We are planning to run a skill-building therapeutic program during the 2026 school terms for toddlers and young children aged 2-5, and we are seeking expressions of interest.

This program will be open to both existing clients and new families who may benefit from additional support.

This early intervention program is a therapist-led drop-off group for toddlers and preschool aged children, designed to help develop communication, social, motor, cognitive, and independence skills in preparation for preschool and school.

Led by speech pathologists and therapy assistants, the program offers a structured, supportive environment with clear goals and evidence-based activities.

Who this program is ideal for:

Children aged 2–5 who may need a little extra support in a smaller group environment, including:
• Children who need more support with speech and language
• Children who need help with social engagement
• Children who benefit from structured routines and predictable sessions
• Those preparing for preschool or school

If you would be interested in your child joining this group or would like more information, please comment below or send us a message.

We'd love to hear from you!

✨ October is AAC Awareness Month ✨
AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It includes tools and strategies that support communication for children who may have difficulty using speech.
💬 AAC can look like:
➡️ Picture symbols
➡️ Communication boards/books
➡️ Speech-generating devices
➡️ Gestures, signs, or a combination of all of these
As pediatric speech pathologists, we believe:
🌟 Every child deserves a voice.
🌟 Using AAC does not stop speech development – it supports it.
🌟 Communication is a human right.
This month, let’s celebrate the power of AAC in helping children connect, learn, and thrive. 💚

💛 R U OK? Day 💛
It’s okay not to be okay.
It’s okay to pause.
It’s okay to lean on others.
Today is a reminder to start those conversations that matter. A simple “Are you okay?” can open the door to connection and support.
And let’s not forget—checking in is just as important for kids and families living with disabilities. 💬💛 Their challenges can sometimes feel invisible, but your care and kindness can make an incredible difference.
Together, we can build a world where everyone feels seen, supported, and never alone. 🌻

Welcome to Are You Okay? Week — seven days to nurture emotional connection and speech and language development in our kids.
🧡 Day 1: Ask “Are you okay?” and listen with your full heart.
🧡 Day 2: Share feelings through drawing or storytime—safe and playful ways to open up.
🧡 Day 3: Play “feeling charades”—like a game of pretend with emotions to encourage expression.
🧡 Day 4: Wait patiently after simple questions—gestures count as words too.
🧡 Day 5: Read together a book about feelings and talk about what the characters might be thinking.
🧡 Day 6: Sing a gentle song that names emotions ("happy," "sad," "brave") and ask, “Which one are you feeling now?”
🧡 Day 7: Model openness—share your own small feeling, e.g., “I felt a bit tired today, but I'm okay now.” It shows it’s safe to talk.
Every moment of genuine listening supports speech, emotional awareness, and trust 💬❤️

✨ You don’t need flashcards or fancy toys to help your child’s speech and language grow — everyday moments are the most powerful tools!
Try:
📚 Reading books together
🎵 Singing songs
🧸 Playing pretend games
🗣️ Talking about what you’re doing
⏳ Waiting and giving your child a chance to respond, even with gestures
These simple interactions turn daily routines into learning opportunities. 💡
Remember — little moments build big skills. 💕

✨ Some toddlers do “catch up” on their own — but it’s impossible to know which ones will. Research shows that little ones with early delays are more likely to face challenges with reading and learning later if they don’t get the support they need.
💡 The best news? Early support works! Every small step now helps build strong foundations for your child’s future growth and learning. 🌱💛

🌍 Short answer: No. Bilingualism does not cause speech or language delays!
Normal for bilingual kids: Mixing words from both languages in the same sentence (code-switching)
The long-term benefits?
🧠 Stronger brain development
💡 Better problem-solving
🌐 Greater cultural connection
If your child is having difficulty with talking or understanding, it’s not because of the second language — they may just need a little extra support in both.
👉 Key rule: If a child is behind in both languages (not just weaker in one), it could indicate a delay, not just normal bilingual development.

Parents usually understand their little one’s speech better than anyone else. But as children grow, others should be able to understand them too:
✨ By age 2: about 50% understood
✨ By age 3: about 75% understood
✨ By age 4: nearly 100% understood
If you find that you’re the only one who understands your child, you’re not alone—and it may be a good time to check in with a Speech Pathologist for extra support 🌟 💬🤍

This is one of the most common questions we hear from parents and teachers — and it’s an important one!
💡 Every child develops at their own pace, but here are some key milestones:
👶 By 2 years:
* Uses 50+ words
* Starts combining 2 words (e.g., “more juice”)
👧 By 3 years:
* Speaks in short sentences of 3–4 words
* Familiar people understand most of their speech
🧒 By 4 years:
* Uses longer sentences and can tell simple stories
* Strangers can understand most of what they say

Speech 🗣️ vs Language 🧠 — they’re not the same thing!Knowing the difference helps you spot when your child might need extra support.

💬 Speech = how we produce sounds and words🧠 Language = the words, sentences, and ideas we use to communicate.
