On Wednesday, 17th of September, our 4-year-old Kinder room, Warriin, had a visit from Ditto Bravehearts. Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Program is a fun and effective personal safety education program, curriculum-aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework and the Australian Curriculum. Bravehearts’ Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show teaches young children essential personal safety skills using age-appropriate language, song, and dance.
The Ditto Show teaches children about:
Differentiating safe and unsafe feelings
Recognising the body’s warning signs
Body ownership and that it is okay to say no
Helping children name public and private parts using anatomically correct names
Reinforcing that there is no secret that children cannot tell someone
What to do if you feel unsafe or unsure
To support the children’s learning further, there is also a game that, through scenarios and play, teaches children important personal safety skills in a non-confrontational, enjoyable way. Each scenario is underpinned by Ditto’s 3 Keep Safe Rules:
We all have the right to feel safe with people
It’s okay to say no if you feel unsafe or unsure
Nothing is so yucky that you can’t tell someone about it
