Functional breathing is the basis of health

Hi I’m Julia Rudakova, Naturopath, Functional Breathing Educator & Founder of Oxygen Revolution.

My journey and research into natural therapies for respiratory conditions started with the birth of my first son. Growing up I experienced bronchitis and respiratory issues which I treated using mainstream medication. However, when I became a mother, it became important for me to shift my family into a more holistic approach to our health.

I have gone through other health challenges too - I had my first big miscarriage in 2007, followed by another. It was incredibly heartbreaking. I asked the doctors and nurses if I could have some additional testing done and the response was “We have to wait until you have 3 or more before we can send you to a clinic.” I was appalled. It made me feel like just another number in the system, struggling to be heard.

Emotionally and mentally I was at my lowest point, but this also led me to a big “Spiritual Awakening”. I realised we have a mental and emotional body in addition to the physical, and they all intersect and affect each other. I decided to enroll in a naturopathic school. A few weeks later I found out I was pregnant again.

This time, I used my newfound knowledge to keep track of my hormones using herbal and other natural medicines. I also meditated and focused on self-care on a deeper level.

I gave birth to my 2nd son in September, 2010.

All was well, until 2013 when I had to rush him to the emergency room. He had become asthmatic and was struggling to breathe. As he didn’t respond well to conventional asthma medication, I started my search for modalities and natural therapies that would support asthmatics and people with respiratory issues. This led me to the discovery of a respiratory modality called Buteyko breathing.

At one point when he had an asthma attack – he did the Buteyko Breathing exercises and within 10 minutes he had colour in his face. He could get up and walk, which previously hadn’t been thought possible. That’s when I knew Buteyko Breathing was a modality I needed to integrate within my naturopathic practices.

In 2018 I became qualified as a Buteyko Breathing Educator, and combined it with my existing naturopathic practices to form the Oxygen Revolution Functional Breathing program.

Now, my mission is to:

Educate individuals with asthma and other respiratory conditions using practical tools & proven holistic methods

Inspire my clients to achieve their optimal health potential naturally, so they can live a life full of energy & vitality
