Our Easter Fun Day was filled with so much laughter, colour, and creativity — from adorable bunny ears, to fun activities, to the biggest smiles we’ve seen all year. The joy was absolutely contagious 🤩

Thank you to all our families and staff for getting involved, bringing the fun, and helping us create such a memorable experience for the children. We are so fortunate to be a part of such a fun and vibrant community! ✨

🪴🫜🥕AUTUMN GARDENING 🥕🫜🪴
As the cooler weather rolls in, we kicked off an exciting new garden project — planting our autumn vegetables! 🌱

After a week of preparing the garden beds, today was our big planting day. With the help of our wonderful little gardeners, we planted silver beet, spinach, beetroot, heirloom carrots, and some beautiful colourful flowers 🌼

We learned how to gently handle fragile seedlings, take turns, and carefully cover our seeds with soil. The children showed fantastic teamwork, patience, and care every step of the way🥬

Now the hard work is done, and we can’t wait to watch our veggies grow in the coming weeks — and hopefully enjoy some delicious harvests soon!🌿

Sue Margetts - Our new Centre Director!

We are incredibly fortunate to have such an outstanding and dedicated leader stepping into this important role! Sue has been a valued Goodstart employee for over 16 years, and the Assistant Director at our Centre for the last 10 years. During this time, Sue has consistently demonstrated commitment, professionalism, and a genuine passion for the work we do. Her extensive experience and deep understanding of our centre, our team, and the families we serve make her the best possible fit for this position.

Sue’s journey within the company has been one of dedication and growth, and her knowledge of the role, combined with the relationships she has built over the years, provides a strong foundation for continued success. She is highly respected by colleagues and families alike, and we know her leadership will continue to foster a positive, supportive, and thriving environment for everyone in our community.

Today marks Sue’s first ‘official’ day as Centre Director, and we are truly excited to see the centre continue to flourish under her guidance. We look forward to the energy, insight, and care she will bring to the role, and to the many successes that lie ahead for our centre.

🩷🧡💛 FAREWELL MISS PETA! 💛🧡🩷
It is with both sadness and excitement that share with the community that after a few months’ secondment to Goodstart Mt Isa, our fearless leader Peta, is taking a very brave step in her life's journey and has decided to remain at the Mt Isa centre on a permanent basis. This change comes with very mixed emotions as we support her to make this change, but we will miss her greatly!

Over the past 22 years, the impact Peta has had on our team, our families and our community have been incredibly significant. Miss Peta created an environment where people felt safe to grow, to try, to learn and to step into their potential. From her guidance, support and trust, all of us here at Goodstart Kingaroy – staff, children and families - have been able to grow, develop and truly blossom.

Please help us say ••THANK YOU•• to Miss Peta, and wish her the very best for her next exciting adventure… we can’t wait to see how she will support and grow the Goodstart Mt Isa centre.

Look at our tomatoes! We are so proud of our children who have been busy growing their very own tomatoes in our centre garden! 🌞🍅🌱

Over the past few months they have watered them carefully, watched them grow, and learned all about what plants need to thrive. With patience, teamwork, and lots of excitement, their hard work has paid off — beautiful, ripe tomatoes ready to be picked! 🍅✨

The best part? Our fresh garden tomatoes are now being used in our centre kitchen! From garden to plate, the children get to experience the full journey of food — learning about sustainability, healthy eating, and where their food comes from.

We love creating opportunities that connect children to nature, encourage responsibility, and celebrate the joy of growing something with their own hands. 🌿💚

Well done to our wonderful little gardeners — we couldn’t be prouder! 🙌🏻

Goodstart Kingaroy was incredibly honoured to welcome a very special guest to our centre today - The Honourable Di Farmer MP and Shadow Minister for Education and the Early Years!

It was a pleasure to share and showcase the importance of Kindergarten in Regional Queensland and the huge impact early learning has on our community’s children and families.

Our Kindy Children were so proud to show her around their playground, share their favourite parts of kindy, and talk about what they love learning each day. To finish the visit, they presented her with a very special gift – a book created by the children, sharing what kindergarten means to them and all the wonderful things they learn.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and celebrate early education with us, Di. We loved having you at Goodstart Kingaroy! 🧡

🐴🇨🇳 Gong Hei Fat Choy! 🇨🇳🐴
•• Happy Chinese New Year ••

Today at our centre, we are celebrating Chinese New Year. Today marks the beginning of the lunar calendar and is a time for family, gratitude, fresh beginnings, and wishing one another good fortune, happiness, and prosperity for the year ahead.

At our centre, we love embracing opportunities to explore and celebrate different cultures and traditions. Miss Hermie always shares the most incredible gifts with each staff member to help set us up for success for the year. This year is the Year of the Horse. She shares with us her own traditions, such as before New Year’s Day, families thoroughly clean their homes to sweep away bad luck from the previous year and make space for good fortune. On New Year’s Day itself, cleaning is usually avoided so that good luck isn’t “swept away.”

Miss Hermie says “whatever you bring to today, will set you up for the year ahead”. So be sure to spend some time today doing the things you love with the people you love.

We wish all of our families who celebrate a joyful, prosperous, and healthy New Year.
