~ ITS DECEMBER! ~
That doesn’t mean you need to write the whole month of and tell yourself you’ll “wait” till the new you. There is never a convenient time to start and Christmas comes around every year anyway, so you may as well let this one be the one where you don’t go backwards, where you don’t feel like your starting again and where your not disappointed in yourself.
Here are my top tips below 👇
- Plan out your month, what does it look like, how many events do you have and what do they involve? Is there any you can go to where you can eat before hand. Are there any you can go to and not eat and instead enjoy the atmosphere and company. We are always so food focused with socialising, strip it back and remember why you’re actually there.
- plan ahead if your big meal falls later in the day eat light in the lead up to it, not eating at all will only result in over consumption later and going to an event starving is never fun.
- Focus on protein first, this means if it’s a lunch or dinner make your breakfast protein rich, think a smoothie, an omelette, Greek yogurt and berries. Save your fats and carbs for big feed where you can enjoy mindfully knowing that you have started the day off on the right foot. This will also minimise mindless snacking throughout the day, which is so common at Christmas when food is everywhere.
- split your plate - when you dish up for yourself, focus on what will fill you, the ham the turkey, the prawns. Then get your carbs ( these are essential) aim for about a quarter of your plate or a fist full. The rest is your micronutrients and your fats, think your greens, your fruits and maybe some cheese. Keep it balanced so your not going back a million times.
- Stay hydrated! Drink water as much as possible, it will help regulate your hunger, your energy and avoid that dreaded hangover!
- Most importantly, enjoy the day, enjoy the company and enjoy the moment, it’s one day. The biggest mistake you can make is taking on the “f**k it” attitude and letting it roll into weeks or even months, making it difficult to reign in.
Remember the food will always be there, focus on the moments and the memories 👌
