Santosha Yoga Australia

Santosha Yoga Australia Santosha Yoga Australia offers Gentle, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga classes in Kingston and Kettering. We help you slow down, find calmness and connect to your Self.

Santosha Yoga Australia (Santosha) is your sanctuary from the rush and pressure of everyday life. We help you find tranquility and peace-of-mind through the practice of yoga, breath work (pranayama) and meditation. We offer yoga to suit every body. It doesn't matter if you are fit or not, flexible or not, a beginner or experienced yoga student. Yoga can help you reduce stress, build strength and flexibility, and improve your overall wellbeing. We believe strongly in finding balance in life, and so we practice vinyasa or flow yoga (a stronger or more yang style of yoga) as well as yin yoga (a softer and more meditative style of yoga). Vinyasa is a dynamic flowing style of yoga that will help you build strength, improve your flexibility and connect with your breath. Yin is all about softening, releasing tension and finding stillness. What does Santosha mean? Santosha (pronounced san-toe-sha) is the Sanskrit word for contentment. It is our belief that the practice of contentment, gratitude and acceptance are the keys to finding happiness from within. These are our core values, and they underpin everything we do. Santosha was founded by Danielle Bendall. Danielle first started practicing yoga in 2003, because she wanted to find tools to help quieten her constantly busy mind. She quickly found that stepping onto her mat allowed her to calm down and find stillness in her mind – if only for brief moments! Over the years as her practice became more regular Danielle noticed the additional strength, flexibility, energy and overall vitality that yoga provided. Danielle undertook her 200 hour teaching qualification with Power Living Australia Yoga, under the guidance of Duncan Peak. She has gone on to learn from many great local and international teachers including Jennifer Crescenzo, Sarah Powers, Simon Park, Leslie Kaminoff, Maty Ezraty and Donna Farhi. Her classes are authentic, open and personal. Danielle will help guide you to quieten the mind, tune in to the inner world, and bring the body, breath and mind into greater harmony.

There’s one place left for the last Sunday Rest Club of the year: 90 minutes of restorative yoga this Sunday December 7.

I have planned a deeply nurturing, energetically down-regulating practice. Head into the end of year feeling calm and grounded!

Stay for a cuppa, snacks and chats afterwards.

I’d love to see you there 🙏

One Sunday every month, we meet for 90 minutes of deep rest and release. The schedule rotates between Restorative and Yin Yoga. Kettering, Tasmania.

Thank you and for an inspiring 3 day immersion into the breath.

Some of my understanding has been tipped on its head.

Breathing less, not more, is the key.

I’m so inspired to integrate this learning, develop my practice, and share it with my students.

Bookings are now open for the 2026 Bali retreat.

Join us for 5 nights and 6 days next June.

In the words of a 2025 guest, who has already booked to come back in 2026:
“It is hard to articulate how amazing the 2025 Bali retreat really was”.

Located in the central mountains of Bali, away from the touristy crowds.

This is a yoga retreat where you are welcomed and accepted as you are.

Head to the website to find out more.

2026 retreats: there's good news and bad news!

The bad news is that the next Tasmanian retreat all but (one) sold out in the presale. There is only one spot left, and it's live now on the website if you want to take a look.

The good news is that the next Bali retreat will go live on the website on Thursday, so you still have an opportunity to experience the magic of a Santosha Yoga Australia retreat.

In the words of a recent guest:
"I was a bit worried that a retreat was really for hard core practitioners. But, this retreat was totally inclusive even with my old, inflexible joints but more importantly, introduced me to a side of yoga beyond just impossible poses. Totally beyond my expectations."

DM or email me with any questions. I'd love to have you join me. ❤️

Living in Tasmania teaches us to live in the moment, especially in Spring!

On Sunday it was 28 degrees and sunny, so I went for my first swim of the season. (It was freezing!)

For the last 3 days it’s been pouring with rain, so inside work has been my focus.

This morning it’s calm and sunny, so I meditated in my happy place - outside in my egg chair.

And tomorrow it’s going to be 13 degrees, so I think it will be a hot chocolate kind of day!

My mind wants to say: bring on Summer! Instead, I will seize today and what it offers.

Join us on Sunday October 26 for the next Sunday Rest Club.

This is a 90 minute Yin Yoga class, followed by a cuppa and catch up.

This has been a popular monthly event this year, not just for the opportunity for an extended time of stillness and rest, but for the social connection that happens over a cup of tea.

From the lush green jungle and rice fields of Bali, to the colour of Portugal, and the dry rocky land and clear blue sea of Greece, I finally begin my slow journey home.

Don’t let the first 2 photos fool you; I have practiced very little asana since leaving Bali and dropped my morning meditation ritual.

Instead, I’ve practiced being in the moment, focusing on joy and curiosity, awe and wonder about the places I explored.

So let this be a reminder that your practice will wax and wane, morph and change based on the phase of life that you are in. It will always be there, waiting for you.

I can’t wait to be back on the mat with my community again, very soon. ❤️🧘‍♀️

The theme of our retreat last week was cultivating happiness. Not the good-vibes-only, toxic positivity kind of happiness. And not manifesting (of external sources of) happiness. Instead, we explored the 4 Buddhist practices of Metta (Loving Kindness),Karuna (Compassion), Mudita (Vicarious Joy), andUpekkha (Equanimity). We overlaid these teachings with more from yoga and those from modern day science. And whilst we explored these topics through practice, reflection and discussion; what really brought the lessons home was witnessing them in action. I witnessed many acts of kindness, compassion and joy in others’ joy on this retreat. It was very special. If you’d like to get yourself on the waitlist for 2026 retreats (both Tassie and/or overseas), head to santosha.com.au/retreats to add your name. More details are coming soon

Neither words nor images can convey the magic that just happened on our incredible retreat.

Witnessing the connections being formed was an absolute privilege.

As one participant said, it was a week of “women lifting each other up”.

Thank you all for your presence, your compassion, your joy. We will definitely have to do this again.

My heart is more than full, it’s overflowing. ❤️
