Some fast facts about snakebite!

Deaths to Australian Venomous snakes in the last 10 years have averaged 2 per year.
- 75% of women get bitten on the leg.
- 75% of men get bitten on the arm.

PIT (the pressure immobilisation technique) is effective at slowing the movement of venom through the body, and Anti venom is widely available in all Australian Hospitals .
Remember - the help comes to you, don't move your victim unless there is no alternative!

South Australia is leading the way on Mandatory AED Legislation - if passed, Defibs will be legally required in all Schools, Universities, Libraries, Sporting Facilities, Local Council Offices, and commercial properties over 600 m2 in size. SA setting the precedent!

Defibrillators would be mandatory in all public buildings under Australian-first legislation introduced recently to South Australian state parliament for debate.

Our most commonly asked question is...Is Senior First Aid the same as Provide First Aid?

YES IT IS....previously referred to as Senior First Aid, this course is now recognised as Provide First Aid.

In 2021, the First Aid course codes were updated.
- CPR is now HLTAID009
- Provide First Aid is now HLTAID011
- Childcare First Aid is now HLTAID012
- Advanced First Aid is now HLTAID014
- Advanced Resuscitation is now HLTAID015.

PROVIDE FIRST AID HLTAID011 is the most common nationally accredited First Aid course, and is required for most Work Places. This Course includes HLTAID009 - CPR.

HLTAID009 CPR should be refreshed every 12 months, & HLTAID011 Provide First Aid every 3 years.

If you work in the Security Industry you may require HLTAID014 Advanced First Aid.

HLTAID012 Child Care First Aid is required if you work in a child care centre under the Child Care authority.

Any nationally accredited First Aid course includes CPR. It is impossible to do a First Aid course without the CPR component.
