Business to me is the ultimate 'Chip & Chase'.

There’s a unique feeling that only a few moments in life can match.

For our Union & League followers, you’ll know the rush of seeing someone chip, chase, regather and score (preferably from the Wallabies or Roosters!😀). That split second of disbelief turns into pure exhilaration.

In recruitment, I get that same feeling when a candidate we’ve worked with lands the role that changes everything. The call where you hear the mix of relief, pride, and excitement in their voice.

That’s our version of a try.

Both moments are built on trust, timing, teamwork, and belief. You back yourself, you back your team, and when it all comes together - it’s electric.

To anyone wanting to know, here's what really matters in recruitment today.

Recruitment is about people first, followed by paperwork.

For years, many job ads started with the same checklist: Degree Required, X Years’ Experience Essential.

Lately, we’ve seen a real shift in how we hire, and I welcome it.

Across healthcare and beyond, employers are realising that skills, attitude and adaptability often outweigh formal qualifications (role dependant obviously). A great dental assistant, nurse or practice manager doesn’t just bring a certificate, they bring calm under pressure, empathy, precision, and reliability.

You can’t always measure that on a transcript. Because capability grows through opportunity, not just academia.

As recruiters, we have a responsibility to champion this change, to help employers see potential in people who might not tick every traditional box, but who will absolutely shine once given the chance.

Skills may open doors, but it's mindset that keeps them open.

From our Director, Pam...

Yesterday afternoon I was having a break in a crowded cafe in Dulwich Hill, Sydney. I wasn't planning on it, but I found myself listening to discussions being had amongst the patrons.

The cost of living, the price of housing, and how everyone’s just trying to make life work was an enthusiastically covered topic. There was a mix of humour and heaviness, to deal with this.

Work was another big one. The new hybrid world has changed how we see our jobs, our time, and our priorities. People were talking pay rises, purpose, flexibility, and respect.

And then there’s AI and technology. Fascination and fear at the same time and nearly in the same breath.

But amidst it all, I realised people are craving connection and honesty. Whether it’s dating, work, or community, the word “authentic” keeps surfacing. Maybe that’s the real theme of 2025; we’re all just trying to live more honestly in a world that feels increasingly artificial.

It’s school holidays again, which means the house is a mix of google meets, phone calls, snack requests, ball-games and Lego explosions all at once.

Running a recruitment company means the pace never really stops. But these weeks are a great reminder that balance isn’t about perfect separation, it’s about presence.

When we're at work, we give it everything. When we're with the kids, we do the same.

The truth is, it’s not easy. Like many parents in business, Glen is constantly shifting between deadlines and dad duties; sourcing candidates one minute, building cubby houses the next.

But that’s life. And honestly, that’s what makes it awesome.

To all the parents out there balancing teams, targets, kids and creativity... you’re doing great!

We recently heard that the Australian Defence Force has had its best recruitment season in 15 years.

More than 7,000 full-time personnel joined in 2024–25, with fresh strategies driving record interest.

But here’s the catch... Out of 75,000+ applications, fewer than 10% made it through.

The lesson for us in healthcare recruitment?

It’s not just about attracting candidates, it’s about guiding them through the process, keeping them engaged, and helping them land the right role.

For our healthcare candidates, that means support at every step:
- Honest advice about what’s possible
- Guidance through complex hiring systems
