Calvary Health Care Kogarah

Calvary Health Care Kogarah is a Public Hospital located in Sydney specialising in palliative care and rehabilitation.

We are one of the largest sub-acute hospitals in NSW serving approximately 12,500 patients per year and is considered a leader in Palliative Care and End-of-Life Care within NSW. Founded in 1885 by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, Calvary is a charitable, not-for-profit, Catholic health care organisation. Our mission is to provide quality, compassionate health care to the most vulnerable, including those reaching the end of their life. With over 18,000 staff and volunteers, we have a national network of 14 Public and Private Hospitals, 72 Residential Care and Retirement Communities and 19 Community Care service centres. Calvary Health Care Kogarah provides public hospital services under a Service Level Agreement with the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and is an Australian Council of Healthcare Standards accredited hospital.

Remembrance Day 2025
Today we pause to honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of all who have served, those who gave their lives in war, conflict, and peacekeeping.
At Calvary Health Care Kogarah, we are privileged to have cared for many veterans and to work alongside colleagues and families with deep connections to service.
We wear our poppies and rosemary with gratitude, reflection, and respect.
Lest we forget.

There was plenty of colour and cheer at Calvary Health Care this Melbourne Cup Day! 🐎
Staff and volunteers had fun horsing around spreading laughter, and lifting the spirits of our patients and visitors.

Four of our staff had the privilege of attending the 34th Annual ARNA Conference in Melbourne. This year’s theme, “Rehabilitation Nurses: Embracing Change – Building Resilience Through Rehabilitation in Nursing,” brought together rehabilitation nurses from across Australia and New Zealand for two inspiring days of learning and connection.
A special thank you to Dr Matthew Gardiner for his generous support in making this opportunity possible.

Pastoral Care Week & 140 Years of Calvary 🌿

Last week we celebrated 40 years of Pastoral (Spiritual) Care, and the start of celebrations of 140 years of Calvary’s mission in Australia — a legacy of compassion begun by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary in 1885. 💙

We were honoured to have Father Thomas Mater Dei Blakehurst & St Raphael South Hurstville and Father Socrates Greek Orthodox Parish and Community of Kogarah
along with our local residents, in a service and afternoon tea.
Together, we gave thanks for all who bring hope, comfort, and care to our patients and families.

May we always walk gently beside one another, with open hearts and kind hands.
Thank you again to our amazing pastoral care team.

Congratulations to Barbara Fuller, who has been with our Auxiliary for over 20 years, on receiving Life Membership. A well-deserved honour for her incredible dedication. We are fortunate to have you as part of our team.
