Cashews 🄜 You already hear plenty about peanut allergies… but we know through research that around 1 in every 70 babies (1.4 %) have a confirmed cashew allergy by age 1.

What does that mean for you & your baby?

šŸ‘‰ Many families don’t even introduce cashew by 12 months, only ~25 % in one study did.

šŸ‘‰ If your baby has eczema or a known peanut allergy, the risk for cashew rises significantly.

So when you’re planning that first round of solids… yes, peanut still matters, but so does cashew (and other tree nuts).

Want a calm, clear guide that shows you how to introduce the top allergy foods safely, track them, and avoid feeding panic?

Comment BUNDLE below and I’ll send you my Nest Weaning Blueprint, your simple, expert-designed toolkit for safe feeding and peace of mind.

Every parent knows that sound, the thud followed by a cry that makes your stomach drop. šŸ’”

When my son fell and hit his head on concrete, the lump was instant… and it was huge.

It felt soft and ā€œboggyā€ in the middle, and that’s what made me worry.

We spent five hours in the emergency department, and he needed a CT scan to check for skull or brain injury. 🧠

Thankfully, everything came back clear, but I want to share this because most parents don’t know what to look for after a head injury.

Here’s what matters most:
āš ļø Boggy (soft, squishy) lumps can mean bleeding under the scalp.
āš ļø Repeated vomiting, confusion, or drowsiness are red flags, always get checked.
āš ļø Even if your child seems okay, trust your gut. Head injuries can change quickly.

Kids are resilient, but sometimes a bump is more than ā€œjust a bump.ā€

And as a paediatric nurse and mum, I’d rather every parent know when to wait and when to go.

Save this post so you know what to do if it ever happens. 🩵

Trying to explain to my baby why Australia has trust issues with peanut butter šŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗšŸ„œ

It’s true, Australia has the highest rate of childhood food allergy in the world.

But here’s the twist… šŸŒŖļø

Peanut gets all the attention, it’s the most labelled, most feared, and most talked about.

Yet for many allergy families, the real danger doesn’t always come from peanut butter at all. 😬

Egg and milk are huge triggers in babies and toddlers.

And sneaky ingredients like almond meal in pastries or desserts can catch parents completely off guard. šŸ°

That’s why I created The Nest Weaning Blueprint, to help you confidently introduce common allergy foods early, safely, and without panic.

It’s FREE & waiting to fly straight to your inbox šŸ“„ now.

There is so much noise out there right now.

Weaning, choking, allergy foods, starting solids, it feels like everywhere you scroll, someone’s telling you the ā€œrightā€ way to feed your baby.

Even I’m feeling overwhelmed by it, and this is literally what I do for a living. So I can only imagine how it feels when you’re postpartum, sleep-deprived, and just trying to do your best.

Here’s what I want you to hear today šŸ‘‡šŸ¼
There is no one-size-fits-all.
Every baby moves at their own pace.
Just because one baby is eating steak at 4 months and another has ticked off almonds, cashews, and peanuts by 6 months, doesn’t mean yours should too.

You are not behind. You are not doing it wrong.
You are doing your best, and that’s exactly what your baby needs. 🩵

Find one trusted voice, one calm place to learn from, and tune out the rest of the noise.

The Nest, Kids CPR & Allergy

In 17 years of paediatric nursing, Heidi Young has treated children with all kinds of injuries and illnesses. She has also seen parents come through the doors of the Children’s Hospital, upset in the knowledge that they didn’t know what to do for their child when it mattered most.

She says ā€œWhen I became a mother, I finally understood how all those parents really felt. As a Paediatric nurse, I rest easy in the knowledge that I know exactly how to help my boys, should the dreaded situation arise.ā€

ā€œEvery parent, expectant parent and carer should be armed with the knowledge, and the confidence and security that come with it. I deal with parents every single day that, when it mattered most, did not have the immediate skills to act quicklyā€

CPR and Allergy advice is something that I have been passionate about for a long time now, and it is time to share my knowledge.
