Last October, Ember Care’s Director, Emily, attended the Casey Leadership Program Alumni Event at Bunjil Place — reconnecting with community leaders from the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire who are dedicated to driving meaningful change. As a 2022 CLP graduate, she was one of 30 emerging leaders selected to learn about council processes, budgeting, grants, communications, and pathways into local government. A highlight of the event was hearing from keynote speaker Sukart Alex, whose powerful work empowering young people through sport, identity, and wellbeing reignited her passion for purpose-driven leadership.

Now, with renewed energy, she is stepping back into community leadership through Ember Care, continuing her mission to advocate for vulnerable populations and strengthen partnerships with local councils and fellow leaders across the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire. 🔥 Leadership grows when community grows — and this is only the beginning.

We’ve had the joy of supporting Wayne for the past three years, and it’s been wonderful to see how much progress he’s made toward his personal goals this past year.

During one of his support shifts, Wayne asked our support worker, Kathy, if she could come to his birthday celebration. Kathy went above and beyond — she took the initiative to add Wayne’s birthday to his support page so the team could come along and join in the celebration.

In collaboration with the leadership team, Kathy took the initiative to organise balloons, a cake and card for the entire Ember Care staff to sign.
All of Wayne’s support workers — and even a few other participants — came along to celebrate and make his day truly special.

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do — to bring joy, connection, and community to the people we support.

A big thank you to Kathy for taking the lead and helping make Wayne’s birthday celebration so meaningful. 💛

As we head into 2026, we’re excited to make the celebration of both our clients’ and our team members’ birthdays a special part of life at Ember Care — because everyone deserves to feel celebrated.
