Kooweerup Regional Health Service Kooweerup Regional Health Service is a public hospital, committed to providing high quality health services to the community.

KRHS is a member of the International Hospital Health Promotion Network and Global Green and Healthy Hospitals. The Kooweerup Hospital first opened its doors as a Bush Nursing Hospital under the auspices of the Victorian Bush Nursing Association on the 11th April, 1921. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength โ€“ and is now an important hub within the Koo Wee Rup region. We are committed to continually improving the services we provide to the local community โ€“ so that we play a key role in improving the overall health and wellbeing of local residents. We provide round-the-clock medical services on our large hospital site, as well as district nursing in and around the community.

Our ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐…๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐ž๐ญ ๐Œ๐ž ๐๐จ๐ญ ๐‚๐š๐Ÿ๐žฬ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ was held on 25 November at the Hewitt Eco House community room, and what a festive way to wrap up 2025!

The theme was Christmas, and we loved seeing so many familiar faces from Killara, Western Port Unit, and the wider community. We were also joined by Kerry Brown from Mecwacare and Sacha Cahill from Care Connect.

The room was filled with music and cheer as:
โ€ข ๐‰๐š๐ง๐ž ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ž led us in Christmas carols
โ€ข ๐‹๐š๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ž ๐Œ๐œ๐Š๐š๐ฒ performed with his piano accordion
โ€ข Participants joined in by playing bells and spreading the festive spirit

We were treated to a delicious spread of cakes, sandwiches, and fruit, topped off with classic Christmas favourites including Christmas cake, mince pies, and shortbread.

We are proud to celebrate the appointment of Professor Adam Horsburgh as the inaugural Chief Executive of the new Bayside Health.

This appointment marks a significant milestone as Bayside Health will unite The Alfred, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service, and Peninsula Health to form a single organisation, caring for a community of 1.2 million Victorians from 1 January 2026.

Prof Horsburgh brings extensive leadership experience in Victoriaโ€™s public health system, including roles as Chief Executive of Alfred Health, Austin Health, and Interim Chief Executive of Melbourne Health.

Koo Wee Rup Health Service (KRHS) was proud to welcome The Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas MP, Victorian Minister for Health, on a special visit that highlighted the heart of our community-focused care.

During the visit, the Minister toured our facilities, met our amazing staff, and spoke with patients, gaining a firsthand look at the vital health services we deliver every day.

From the Allied Health team to the Westernport Unit Nursing Home, and through to the Early Parenting Unit, the Minister saw the compassion, dedication, and professionalism that define KRHS.

Womenโ€™s Health Victoria is seeking lived experience women and gender diverse people to share their cancer experience.

The research aims to determine how gender impacts the cancer care experience of women, trans men, non-binary, and gender diverse people in Victoria.

They are looking for people who:
โœ…Are 18 years or older
โœ…Have or have had a cancer diagnosis
โœ…Have received cancer care in Victoria
