Kooweerup Regional Health Service Kooweerup Regional Health Service is a public hospital, committed to providing high quality health services to the community.

KRHS is a member of the International Hospital Health Promotion Network and Global Green and Healthy Hospitals. The Kooweerup Hospital first opened its doors as a Bush Nursing Hospital under the auspices of the Victorian Bush Nursing Association on the 11th April, 1921. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength โ€“ and is now an important hub within the Koo Wee Rup region. We are committed to continually improving the services we provide to the local community โ€“ so that we play a key role in improving the overall health and wellbeing of local residents. We provide round-the-clock medical services on our large hospital site, as well as district nursing in and around the community.

From today, 1 January 2026, Kooweerup Regional Health Service has become part of the new public health service, Bayside Health.

Bayside Health brings together The Alfred, Peninsula Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Bass Coast Health, and Kooweerup Regional Health Service, creating a stronger and more connected public health network.

Within Bayside Health, we are part of the Regional Care Group, alongside Gippsland Southern Health Service and Bass Coast Health.

From today, updates from Kooweerup Regional Health Service will be shared via the Bayside Health Regional Group page.

From today, Bayside Health officially comes to life, bringing together five health services so that more than 1.2 million Victorians can access care thatโ€™s better connected and closer to home.

For our community, this means the same trusted hospitals and teams, better access to groundbreaking clinical trials and research, and stronger networks to support your health.

Whether youโ€™re in Koo Wee Rup and surrounding areas, in metropolitan Melbourne, in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula, or residing in Phillip Island, Bass Coast, or South Gippsland, our goal is simple: to provide seamless, high-quality care for every person, every time.

Under the Bayside Health umbrella, each hospital and healthcare site will continue to operate under its existing name, and your current local team will remain the same.

The AGM was a valuable opportunity to reflect on the year, hear from our Board Chair, CEO and Executive, and celebrate the achievements of our service and people. We were also pleased to hear from The Hon Martin Foley (Incoming Board Chair โ€“ Bayside Health), who shared insights into the future opportunities and benefits of being part of Bayside Health.

The meeting also featured a guest address from Jacinta Allen (State Manager โ€“ Dementia Australia) via Zoom and highlighted the important work underway to support a Dementia Friendly KRHS.
